Let's see, I live in that part of the Valley where the dominant religion is a Utah import...that'd be Mesa.

There are a few moderate Liberal UPC churches like Bibs and Hudson.

moderate conservative are Hogan and McCarey.
Knutson doesn't pastor anymore. He's apparently making his rounds to try and get his license back with the UPCI.

Haven't been to Combs, not sure where he pastors.

Goldsberry has a great church in Tempe (formerly Roam's). Sharon Roam is still there as part of the ministerial staff. CLC is a great church in the middle of a building program.

If you're in the Mesa area I would definitely drive to Warner and just west of McClintock to check out CLC. Unfortunately Bibbs church is a good 45 minutes away, depending on how far east you are in Mesa.

Another UPC church nearby is in Tempe, Solid Rock, pastored by Brent Endris. That church is on Apache Trail (Main Street) and just east of McClintock.

The others, Hogan, Wiley, and McCary are a good 30 to 45 minutes away from the east valley.

I live in Gilbert, AZ. My in-laws go to a UPC church in Mesa. Tommy Hudsons church. I do not go there at this moment. But the Hudsons church is fairly balance as far as con-vs-lib. There are some real cons there, but the leadership is mainly moderate ad they do not mind to shout.

I go to CLC that Chaotic Resolved mentioned. It is in Tempe just off the 101 south on Warner it is just west of McCilntock. I been going there about a year. They are a non-denominal church but they have great music and they really worship Jesus. It is hard to find more sincere worshippers of Jesus. They do not shout and dance alot. Because it is more of a deeper worship thing. I love it! Pastor Phil is a great preacher. This past Sunday he preached and talked about Acts 2 and there were a couple that were in UPCers or people in 'bundage' as CC1 would say. Funny to see there reaction when he preached out of Act 2.

Go to ChristLifeChurch.org and click on sermons and listen to Pastor Phil preach about 'Restored' it is awesome.

There is a Comb's in Casa Grande, but the one that Thad mentioned is at Valley Catherdral in uptown Phoenix, Central and something. It is north of Bibb Jr's. It was pastored by Dan Scott that is at CC in Nashville, but I would not go as far as Thad did and say it is more Catholic or others. Just the name is different. They are definately Pentecostal.

There's also a church off of Country Club and the 60 in Mesa, in a plaza. It used to be a theater, so it's not a typical store-front church. There are two churches that use the building. I believe they're both independent.

New Creation - meets Sunday morning - Pastor Fowler
Living Hope Apostolic - meets @ 2pm Sunday afternoon - Pastor Ezekiel Ochoa

I know Pastor Ochoa and have visited the church. It's a new work and the people there are pretty friendly. I haven't visited New Creation, although I did play flag football a couple years ago with some guys from there.

I think that about does it for my little list of recommendations.

Hmmm, interesting. I've never heard of the "bolded"churches. Seems to be quite a few more than what I thought. Cool.

A very good man and pastor is Bro Gary Hogan, a good balanced man that will treat you right. I dont think you could go wrong there.

All of these men that I mentioned are friends of mine, ....guess it just depends on your preferance.
I dare to differ with you on Rob Bibb. Of course, here on AFF we all know that even conservatives are someone's liberal so your assessment is, like mine, very subjective. I still contend that Rob is a moderate.

Don't you love a conflicted conservative with an Ox Goad in his hand?

The resorts are pretty because they spend a forturne on irrigation but everything else is desolate.
You are obviously not a golfer! Best golf in the country in Scottsdale... all the green and beauty are on the golf courses!

Why don't you ask PM if he would be interested in accompanying you to Phoenix or Scottsdale some time. I can almost guarantee you his answer.
