Nashville TN area

Can anyone from Nashville area give me some information as to why it would be a good place to live.

I have been considering TN for a long while… I love TN… the Nashville area is nice… that and Knoxville area. Looks like there could be a possibility for a move to Nashville area…

So… how about house Taxes… in fact, taxes period.. are they high or reasonable?

What about areas to live in… I am a suburb/more country than city type person, but want to reach city/shopping in fairly decent time.

churches I have a pretty good idea of a few... but will take info on that too.

Got info…. Please share. Thanks a bunch.

My daughter lives in Bellevue while attending college in N'ville. The Bellevue area is nice with some shopping and eating. It's close to West End where there are lots of nice restaurants and, of course, not too far from the Franklin/Coolsprings and also the OpryMills area. I understand that Kingston Springs is a nice, more rural area, also Ashland City. She rents so I don't know about taxes, etc. She attends First UPC, Bro. Ron Becton, pastor located in the Bellvue area. Nice folks there. Good preaching, teaching, worship and music - at least what times I can visit. They have an outreach to many different cultures there, youth activities, childrens ministry, singles group, bus ministry....

Nashville is usually voted the #1 friendliest city in the USA!

Sales tax is 9.25%, but we have NO INCOME TAX!!!

The economy is in great shape! (2% unemployment)

The water bill is high in this area of the country.

There are numerous good areas to live throughout the Nashville metro. Williamson County to the south, is the best (IMO!) but it can be expensive!

There are some good UPC churches throughout the Nashville area, but you're welcome at Christ Church too!

Thanks... much appreciated. I will look up those areas on the map...

I haven't ever been to Bro. Becton's. I have attended Zuningas church and it is like what I attend now. btw, I hope I didn't butcher his last name. I am sure I would visit around for a while before making a church choice.

Thanks for the stats Pianoman....

I have stayed in a hotel close to Christ Church when I attended the reunion. I really liked that area, but could tell it was more like our Indianapolis area of Carmel/Geist area.... where it can be really expensive to live... such as the lots to homes alone being 1/2 million... so lol no way Jose...

However, what area would be considered low crime/nice but houses not so much higher end expensive?

I have a couple of daughters that would probably feel right at home at Christ Church... I tend to like more "shockamoo" and I think it is my roots impacting that.. I'm willing to follow standards to be more of what I am used to... .but I've raised my children much different than I was raised and they would most definitely feel at home and comfortable at Christ Church. I have one daughter that doesn't mind being miss Patty Pentecost at all... lol She'll be off to bible school possibly next year, so it wouldn't matter anyway.

I don't have internet, but will check back on Monday to see if anyone else has posted. Thanks a bunch.

There are homes in south Nashville or West Nashville that are affordable and low crime. You might also look in Hendersonville or Gallatin north of town.

You would probably like Bro. Becton's church in west Nashville. They have the style of worship that you are accustomed to, plus standards are not pushed too hard!

FB,

As Pianoman pointed out Williamson County is the preferred area to live but it is VERY expensive. I just moved from there one year ago.

West Nashville is the area I am least familiar with and that is where Becton's church is.

I live in Murfreesboro which is a bedroom community to Nashville. The cost of living is cheaper than Williamson County and there is a good UPC church here called "The Pentecostals of Murfreesboro". They run about 300-400 and because Murfreesboro is a small town with a large University (town of about 65-80,000 and University of 23,000) I think the church has a good youth group. The pastor is a friend of rrford's!!
