The church is filled w/ problems because women and children won't submit to man? How about all of us submitting to the Almighty... think that would work?
C'mon ... individualism has been a problem since Eden
Dan, do you agree with anything PP said? Do you disagree that God has designed a family structure to work a certain way? Why are you so disagreeable to clear Bible teaching?
Now, if you want to defend Hollywood's version of the family, go ahead and prove that Hollywood is putting out wholesome family viewing that agrees with God designed living. Do you think Hollywood has affected our worldview and trickled down to the church?
If a liberal poster had written what PP wrote, the same exact post but with say, HO's or Felicity's name on it, how would you have reacted to that post? Think about it?

Mizpeh, I think I upset him and gave hope to all of those who consider me Charismatic! They appear to be shocked that I have a negative view of most television content. Funny thing is, I've never heard anyone say tv is wholesome.
Just because I am for the resolution doesn't mean I agree with everything Hollywood produces. Quite the contrary.
The worst problems in the church I pastor can be traced to a perversion of the original roles God intended men, women, and children to play.
Families, and the church, struggle when men are lazy and refuse to support the family unit they helped create. We suffer when women attempt to usurp spiritual leadership and authority. We suffer when children dictate the direction and mood of the home.
It grieves me to see the family unit under attack by well-meaning individuals within the church. These folks have fallen for a perverted worldview that despises masculine leadership and pastoral authority.
In the overwhelming majority of motion picture and television content, Hollywood, with the full force of it's bully-puplit, assaults the nuclear family unit. An agenda is quite obvious. The agenda is to promote "individualism" in the hopes of separating families from each other.
This is why sitcoms usually portray men as bumbling boobs who are incapable of rational thought. This is why women are normally shown as intellectually superior. This is why parents often defer to the greater wisdom of nine year old children in most Disney programming.
Make no mistake about it, the nuclear family is an endangered species. All because love has no strings attached, parents are friends instead of teachers, and the only men worthy of respect are limp-wristed, effeminate metrosexuals.
I think that part of your post is true. Problems come from refusal to fulfill God-ordained roles. Tying this dysfunction to hollywood is a bit of a stretch. Does mass media influence culture or reflect culture? If it influences culture, I think this is a positive influence in creating social harmony between backward men and the essential liberation of women. Hollywood also plays a role in creating racial harmony. (except for horror flics) "Men as boobs" on sitcoms is just that - comedy. I think there should be a vast gap between christian society and the "world". You seem to be clumping it all together and blaming hollywood for your lack of personal success. Why do we try to play the role of God and try to control society? I think we should focus on our own relationship with Christ and try to encourage that relationship in the lives of others, but not try to control other people's lives.
I think some of the biggest problems in apostolic churches stem from traditional, patriarchal interpretations of the Bible.
