There are programs through HUD for example. I am in Texas and therefore know people here. Perhaps you could network and see about finding a grant writer there.
I am in the process of seeking Sec 202 funding (elderly housing) for our local assembly.

My unofficial bodyguard, Tyrone, got an overflowing of the Holy Ghost tonight. The Lord moved in a might way, two received the Holy Ghost for sure, with a couple of others touched but I did not get a chance to verify. We baptized 3 in the Wonderful, Matchless name of Jesus.
I'm not sure if I related the story about Tyrone.
He is a BIG guy and all muscle. He's been coming to service for the last two years. And over the last year has really been seeking the Lord.
Well last year a guard came in before a service and I asked him if something was up. He told me Bro. Dan you don't have anything to worry about as long as Tyrone is here, right Tyrone. Tyrone smiled and said Bro. Dan ain't no body gonna mess with you while I'm here! And he means it! So God's got my soul and Tyrone's got my back. How could I worry!

This just brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for sharing the good report.
We can't wait for Cory to get back home from POA. His mom was telling me a few days ago how deeply he's been affected by the prison ministry there. She said he was never the kind of person who would be moved to tears by anything. She said she's seen a major change and that he's become much more tenderhearted and just cries when he's talking about the experience he's had there. I think it's been wonderful for him. He wants to get so many things started when he comes back. Maybe he can pass his ideas on to the rest of the people who want the Lord to move in a big way around here. BTW, I don't know if he's mentioned it to you-- but when he gets back home he has a job waiting on him. He's being appointed youth pastor. I don't think they could have chosen anyone better for the position.

I know basically nothing about prison ministry. Where do you baptise them?

We just have a basin of water and sprinkle them.................
Not....Just joking......
They have a Cattle tank that is outside. Last year they were only letting us baptize once a month. But God has given us favor and they started having one Prisoner, who is a Trustee, fill it every week. What's funny is, he fills it but he won't come to service. And he gets after me if I don't baptize somebody.... I'm pray'n before he gets out, he'll get in the tank! Please pray for him, his name is Frank.

What if there were no cattle tank? What would you do then? I'm just curious - I've never really thought about it. I know people go into the jails and prisons and lives are changed, but I never really thought about the baptismal aspect.

If they did not have the facilities to baptize, I'd try to find someplace that would donate or discount a tank, then I would ask the Warden if I could supply a tank.
One ladies facility in Wisconsin and I think the Work Release facility would bring Prisoners to our church to be baptized. They come sit in service with a guard and then they'd get dunked afterward.
We needed more seats for our service so I found some folding chairs and then I contacted the Warden and asked if i could donate them. He allowed us to do that, but after a week or two they disappeared into other meeting rooms..... I need to take him out to lunch and see what's up with that.
I stress to the guys that go with me and anyone interested in prison ministry to make the prison staff your friends. Chat with them when possible. Bring a treat every once in awhile. It helps to have them on your side. Now they come to me with prayer requests.

You could have done like all other churches do when they send out chairs.. and put identifying marks on them with permanent markers.. then you could have wandered around from room to room -- looking at the bottom of all the chairs to find your ID marks.. saying... that one's mine... that one's mine.. and take them all back.
(Sorry, I got carried away there)
