You are right, Ron. Holiness includes all of those things and, Oh my Lord, it does include how we dress. Who would have thunk? Novel idea, huh? :wink
The Bible speaks of modesty - God forbid.
I Tim 2:9
"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves
in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
2:10
But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works."
This covers our actions "works" as well as our appearance in clothing. I don't believe the passage is saying not to wear these things. The larger meaning is - don't allow that to define you as a Christian woman.
It's not the things that we possess, but who we are.
So, yes, our holiness is a product of the inside working on the outside and we need to hear it preached.
It has nothing to do with opened-toed shoes or other such ridiculous personal teachings. That's what people get offended by and gravitate to when we speak of modesty of dress. Then they want to say holiness has nothing to do with our outward appearance. That cannot be true.
Holiness in the Greek is defined as: godliness, holiness, sanctification, purification. That cannot be an inside work only. It will not stop there.
Romans 6:19
"I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity;
even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness."
II Cor 7:1
"Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved,
let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit,
perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
It is a work of the spirit and the flesh. The inside working on the outside.
