And, as we know, many have families here.

I'm on the fence with regards to Trump's boarder wall idea (pun intended lol). But, without some physical barrier, there is no way to truly "secure" the boarder. So, I'm starting to lean towards the notion of a security fence system along the Southern boarder. My fellow liberals and moderates can whine about Trump's initiative on this matter, but even leading Democrats supported a boarder fence system long before Trump ever filed paperwork to run for President. Once such a system is in place, why not grant amnesty to those who have been here prior to the boarder fence? The police action of rounding up 12 million people and detaining them for just wanting a better life seems a bit draconian. Especially when it is our immigration system that is a joke and we have not had a boarder wall. Can you blame them? I think I'd dream of crossing the boarder if I were in their shoes. The quality of life in so many of these countries is terrible.

If we can make sure that we stop the flow of people coming in behind those already here, we can then turn to better address those who are currently within the United States.

So, what are some of the arguments for and against amnesty?
more government dependencies, increase democrat voter registration.

I can see where it might increase Democratic voter registration.

But if amnesty is more humane in light of the police action it is taking to round up 12 million people... it doesn't really matter which party it benefits?

Are there other reasons beyond this to oppose amnesty?

It worked so well for Reagan...

Because if you give amnesty yet again for the millions here, it will only encourage more illegals to flood our borders in hopes of some future administration giving amnesty.

It's incredibly stupid. (Not a slur against you, just in general, IMO, it's stupid.)

Re: Sarah Huckabee Removed From Restaurant:

Two wrongs don't make a right.

A federal official says the U.S. Army post Fort Bliss in El Paso will house families detained after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally.

The official was not authorized to discuss the plans and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

The official says Goodfellow Air Force Base will be used for housing for detained unaccompanied children. Goodfellow is located in the central Texas city of San Angelo.
Earlier Monday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders insisted that the Trump administration's reversal in referring parents crossing the border illegally with children for prosecution is only temporary because the government is running out of resources.

Sanders spoke to reporters after the head of U.S. Customs and Border Protection said he has stopped referring cases involving children for prosecution.

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions defended Trump administration immigration policies during a speech at a conference in Nevada while hundreds of protesters rallied outside.
Sessions told a convention sponsored by the National Association of School Resource Officers in Reno on Monday that the controversy over immigration is a "difficult and frustrating situation" that requires Congress to pass new legislation.

He says many children detained at the southern border were brought there by violent gang members, and that "children have indeed borne much of the burden of our broken immigration system."
Sessions says the compassionate thing to do is protect children from violence and drugs, put criminals in jail and secure borders. He calls the alternative, open borders, "both radical and dangerous."
No arrests were immediately reported outside, where demonstrators with signs, drums and a mariachi band waged a peaceful protest.

Some sat in a busy roadway for while police diverted traffic around the casino-hotel where Sessions was speaking.

I think we need to turn our missionary/outreach efforts towards our southern border. What if we turned one of our biggest problems into one of our greatest revivals?

Re: Sarah Huckabee Removed From Restaurant:

We also need something along the lines of OFA, but for the GOP

We’re community organizers, and we believe in the power of people.
We know that real, lasting change requires more than righteous anger—it requires a program, and it requires ordinary people coming together to fight for the issues that matter to them. We believe that by acknowledging and nurturing the inherent power in all of us, we can work toward a more tolerant, just, and fair America.

But as opponents try to roll back the hard-fought progress millions of Americans have worked hard for, we’re reminded that defending it will require us to stand together again. That’s why we’re mobilizing activists on behalf of progressive issues and values, and why we’re training a new generation of organizers at no cost to them: To help bring communities together and take on some of the most important political fights of our time.

Sounds like it is a good idea not to commit crimes with your children as accessories. Take your 4 year old with you as you rob a bank. Child is taken by Social Services. Is the government at fault by separating the child from you? No, it is your fault because you have commited a crime. I know this sounds too simple, but that is how simple this is. Don't commit the crime of breaking into this country illegally. I wouldn't ever break into Russia with my children and expect the red carpet rolled out. Or break into China with infants and think they wouldn't be removed. Or break into North Korea with a school bus full of three year old children and believe all would be well.

I never could understand why pinko commies allow logic to escape them.

12 million illegals given amnesty?

You get 12 million more. 12 million more to give amnesty.

You then get another 12 million and you then give them amnesty.

You end up with 36 million with amnesty.

Kiss this country good bye, because ignorant bleeding heart liberals are working hard to make Nakitta Kruschev a prophet.

Good God in Zion!

Re: Sarah Huckabee Removed From Restaurant:

So, there seems to be more to the story about Sanders getting kicked out of the restaurant.

https://www.podcastone.com/episode/LI-Podcast-062518

In a radio interview on the Laura Ingraham show, Mike Huckabee (Sarah's father) stated that while Sarah and her husband went home, the rest of the group went to another restaurant across the street. The owner of the Red Hen organized a protest group (despite Sanders not even being present) and started a protest outside of that place of business; to the point where one liberal member of the party actually had to go outside and explain that what they were doing was an embarrassment, even to them. Interview starts around the 22min mark.
