I don't think you are realizing what is happening. The "illegals" are the minority being singled out right now. Go ahead... deport them. Most Americans aren't going to take the jobs they are currently performing.

And the laws on the books currently, are already too empowering. If the government were to act within those boundaries, I still contend that the government would be going too far.

Oh come on, do you live in a bubble? Most Americans have no desire or interest in framing houses, doing concrete work, levelling foundations, installing and moving mobile homes, doing highway construction, road repair, riding around all day in a tractor mowing the easements on state and county roadways and parks, running their own small businesses like power washing driveways and parking lots, or lawn care service companies, or installing fences or doing land clearing, yada yada yada.

The problem is that illegals aren't worried about crossing our border. There are no reprecusions. Even if they went to one of our jails that is at least a bed, a roof, and 3 meals a day.

I believe the best deterrant would be to push for mexico to police their side of the border and to adopt criminal penalties for anyone attempting to leave their border illegally and for any illegal that is deported there by us.

Give mexico some money and benefits for actually policing the border. We will still have to police our side some but if this can be done it would be the best deterrent.

I believe Mexican courts and jails would be enough to deter an illegal immigrant from crossing the border.

The question is: how do we get mexico to agree to such a proposition?

Mexico has no interest in this. The reason we haven't seen an uprising against the corruption in the Mexican government, is because the US is acting like a relief valve. All those who may stand up to their government, are leaving and coming here instead. What incentive could possibly motivate them to stop border crossings?

the funny part is, i understand that it is really hard to get into Mexico. Ask yourself what incentives rich people have for stopping the flow of immigration into the US--they love immigration.
