And no I am not being stupid. If you meant to say something OTHER than "it's about big corporations doing X" and instead mean "Oh this will hurt businesses" then at least take the responsibility to admit you don't know how to communicate your ideas effectively or just be honest and admit what you REALLY meant was what you posted...that this was big corporations getting our government to pass this bill so THEY can hurt small ma and pa stores...which is what you actually DID say and what I disagree with.
That is NOT why this bill was passed. It was passed by a money greedy government wanting to get MORE of your money
|
Small business owners BELIEVE this is why the bill was passed. They can't compete with Amazon. What else would they derive from a bill of this type?
"You've got the big business united. You have the big business mortar companies and the big business on-line retail ALL TOGETHER, because the impact of this bill IS TO HAMMER the small business on-line retailers to make it harder for the little guys to compete." - Senator Ted Cruz
Stop being obtuse!
Why don't YOU take some responsibility and ADMIT that you are WRONG!!

Re: Internet Sales Tax Passes - Senate Vote Count
Internet Sales Tax Bill Stalling in HouseRetail giants Amazon.com, Best Buy, and Walmart are pouring money into lobbying efforts designed to pass the law. Opponents of the legislation say big online retailers want the bill to pass to crush smaller competitors who cannot readily absorb the compliance costs involved in collecting sales taxes for 9,600 state and local taxing authorities.

Maybe they do, but that is not why I BELIEVE it was passed. Ok? Do you understand that? It's pretty clear or do I need to make it even more simple for you to comprehend?

What THEY do or do not do is irrelevant. I do not believe this bill was the result of big business but rather big government. Why is that a problem?
Why can't someone disagree with what you post with out you becoming belligerent and obnoxious? Did your dog run away from home or something? Nobody at home to be obnoxious to so you come here?

Yea, I am very clear that you think I should agree with you over Senator Ted Cruz and others. Not happening.

Why is that a problem? You are acting like a jerk telling me, "then at least take the responsibility to admit you don't know how to communicate your ideas effectively or just be honest and admit what you REALLY meant was what you posted.."
You gave your opinion and I gave mine. I have Senators, 27 to be exact, who voted against the bill for the very reasons that Sen. Ted Cruz stated - hurting the small business owner.
I have no idea why this conversation has escalated to this degree. Perhaps I responded to you the way I did, because your response is typical of how you generally address people on AFF when you are not in agreement. If you push me, I am going to push back - plain and simple.

"It takes one to know one, DUH! Hello"?? Are you sucking on a lollypop?
It got VOTED AGAINST by 27 Senators because of the impact on the small business owner. What is wrong with you? Are you needing attention or something?
Are you feeling obtuse, yet?

now I know you were intentionally just being rude...I never denied it's IMPACT.
Good grief PO. Learn how to read. You just told me why some voted AGAINST IT and I was talking about why the others voted FOR IT...because of the TAX REVENUE.
I never denied it's impact to small businesses. If you weren't so busy being rude from the get go you'd have noticed that

The small business owners AND the 27 Senators are saying it passed to hurt the small business. So, it is BOTH and not just the TAX REVENUE! You are saying it was ONLY for TAX REVENUE and, according to the 27 Senators, et al, that isn't true.

They can say that if they want PO.
The Dems and Repubs did this because it will bring in MORE tax revenue. They've been wrangling over loss of tax revenue for months coupled with Obama care and other expenses.
That's the WHY.
Will it HURT small businesses? Sure. Is that WHY they voted yes because they want to close small businesses and decrease Job growth? No. This is a case of Politicians being Politicians. They don't THINK before the act when they see dollar signs.
If the 27 Senators said "The reason our colleagues voted for this is because they are bought out by big business and big businesses want to hurt Ma and Pa", that doesn't make it true.
This already happened here in CA where they passed a law requiring all Internet businesses to collect state sales tax. CA is run by Money Hungry Politicians who look for every way possible to make us pay more taxes. This was just the next step.
Again Will it hurt small businesses? Yes
Are most Politicians intelligent enough to realize that? Dunno...maybe it's not intelligence but morality but the fact is this is a MONEY grab because even after Ma and Pa go out of business, Amazon and every other online retailer will still be collecting Taxes for Big Government

If in our Capitalistic, and I don't include crony, country you push a bill that destroys the relationship between the online merchant and the states by causing them to collect sales tax from states they receive no benefit from, it is much more than about tax revenue, IMO. That has been the argument and it is much more than a political point.
