I think your interpetation of the passage is lacking. Did Jesus wear a beard I know not? In a day or so your could pluck my hair from my face yet I do not wear a beard? He may have worn a beard so I am not arguing He did not but I have never read any convincing proof that he wore a beard either.

If he had hair on his cheeks to pluck, He had a beard. Check history. All Jewish men did back then. That is why David's men would not return to Jerusalem until their beards were grown out since it was considered a shame to have the beard marred.
my cheeks: The eastern people always held the beard in great veneration; and to pluck a man's beard is one of the grossest indignities that can be offered. D'Arvieux gives a remarkable instance of an Arab, who, having received a wound in his jaw, chose to hazard his life rather than suffer the surgeon to cut off his beard. See note on 2Sa_10:4.

2Sa 10:4-5 KJV Wherefore Hanun took David's servants, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away. (5) When they told it unto David, he sent to meet them, because the men were greatly ashamed: and the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.

Re: Why I Left the UPC

Why are men so hung up on wearing facial hair. It's so noticeable. Like putting on a ring. It changes the way you feel about yourSELF. Oops, I see a bit of an issue there.

SELF, the BAAL of the hour. BTW it is a dead and powerless God!

The only worldly association anyone ever thought of when banning beards was the 60's hippy movement. That reason has become lost since, for goodness' sake, we're 50 years removed from the time but the tradition still holds. This is what occurs. Tradition is sometimes needed for certain time periods, and then the it becomes a moot issue later but the tradition still holds.

reminds me of the old parable someone once used as to cutting off the turkey legs for turkey roast. It started out as a need for the turkey to fit the small roasting pot. But children who saw mamma do it and who never knew the reasons, grew up cutting off the turkey legs when there was no need since they had the larger roasting pots. But the women did it anyway, because dear old mamma did, and God forbid we stop the tradition, not knowing WHY the tradition started.
I think the church was correct in their decision in the 60's and see no reason to change it now. It is the symptom not the problem.

Re: Why I Left the UPC

They plucked His beard because He had to be holy and have no facial hair while he ministered on the cross.

The problem is moot today and is not a problem. Why speak against such biblical allowances as 2 Sam 10:4-5 present?

So Jesus was on earth in a human body inn David's day? That is interesting?
