After bringing men to Christ and baptizing them what is the next thing? Jesus said teach them to observe all his commandments. Teaching his commandments is very important to Jesus.
This aspect of the great commission is seriously minimized today. In the end time restoration I think we will see this again becoming vital in the Churchs mission.
Do they teach the commandments of Jesus in your Church? Do you teach them to others?

The controversy is whether His commandments were the ten Commandments, including the sabbath day, or not. I say His commandments were NOT the ten commandments. We do not keep sabbath day today since the real sabbath is not a day but a PERSON -- JESUS. And it is not a day but is an existence.
I notice sabbath keepers usually content HIS commandments were the Ten. Actually He contrasted HIS commandments from Law altogether. Law said do not kill, He said do not hate without cause, etc. Clearly a contrast.

Re: Jesus And His Commandments
Michael,
The controversy nowadays is far more than that. It has become whether his commandments are even worthy of discussion. To Jesus the Son of the living God his commandments were very important. If one does not observe them he does not count them as his disciple.

Re: Jesus And His Commandments
For however long the apostles walked with Jesus on Earth thats how long he was teaching them his commandments. He told them after baptizing converts to teach them all the things he commanded them.
It is written the early Church "continued steadfastly in the Apostles doctrine". Much of that doctrine was commandments of things to do or not do. Todays marshmellow Churches strip away Christs authority as a king ruling his kingdom. They teach if one says they love the Lord they love the Lord.
Yet if one actually DOES love the Lord he will want to know what pleases him and he will want to do it.
6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?6:47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
6:48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
6:49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. Luke 6:46-49
Tho his commandments can rightly be summed up as love for God and man thats what that actually is. A "summary".
Many people even in the world say "I love God". Does that mean God accepts them? Obviously not.

I believe His commandments can be summed up as carrying our crosses and denying ourselves. Peter got the revelation from the Father of who Jesus was, and that was great! But when Jesus said AND I SAY ALSO UNTO YOU, Peter rejected that. What did Jesus say? He spoke of carrying the cross.
This is like the people who KNOW He is Lord, and you cannot call Him Lord without a revelation from the Holy Ghost, but He never knew them because THEY DID NOT HEAR HIS WORDS AND DO THEM.
Jesus KNOWS HIS SHEEP and His SHEEP HEAR HIS VOICE. His commandments. SHEEP hear his words and do them.

Yes Jesus said that its better to do so than to commit a sin. Thats what taking up the cross and following him is about. Crucifying our will to do his.
