Re: Midwest Weather

Well, if things turn out the way I think they might, I'll be moving to a location that does have snow by next Christmas.

Re: Midwest Weather

Today was cold but otherwise a fine sunny day.

Yesterday was COLD, WINDY and snowy. I drove to work in near white out conditions.
While at work, the winds whipped around ALL day. Forty and fifty mph winds.........

Leaving work at 9pm the wind had not subsided at all. The upside of the strong winds is that the snow blew somewhere else
Only a few roads had snow drifts, the rest had blown clear.

Official snowfall 2 1/2 inches. At the height of the storm yesterday afternoon it looked like the worst blizzard of the century.
And the high Sat was about 9.

Ah, that global warming sure is sounding good right about now here in OH.

I never read the New Testament churches cancellled due to snow. They did get snow dumped on Damascus this weekend also.

It's a bit more complicated than that. Our church did not cancel, but we did home church because of circumstances...

The thing about holding service when the roads are bad is this. The marginal folks are going to stay home if one flake flies. Your hardcore group will come as long as the door is open. Now, not that I want anyone to be injured ever, but do you want your most dedicated people out on the roads if it really is bad?

First hand experience here. The last Winter we spent in Wisconsin was one of the snowiest in many decades. The church we sorta went to was not shutting down for nothing and a couple who fit into the category of "always there when the doors are opened" got in a wreck on the way there and the wife was killed.

Re: Midwest Weather

OK, here in SW Ohio (NW Hamilton County) we only had 2 - 3 inches of snow to shovel. The temperature dropped down to single digits overnight with the wind chill around zero. The sun is shining today and the temperature is up to 28 degrees F.

Some snow on the ground and on the rooftops makes it easier for Santa's reindeer.
