Re: Is God judging America
puleeze....if/when God judges America, we won't have to ask if it is the judgement of God. This is not it.

Wow how confident to speak for God!
Of course, I think you are wrong, but I will not say it IS of God. But I know He allows it to happen, and since He controls the weather.......enough said.

I don't quite follow you here. First you said that Jason was wrong; then you said that you couldn't really say whether the Kentucky storms were of God or not. Then you qualified that by saying that you know He allows it to happen. Then you shut off all discussion.
Such certainty while simulataneously being vague is the kind of thing that often gives believers a bad rap. How about a firm, "I just don't know..."?
Given the fact that storms like this and even much worse have struck the Midwest long before there was ever an America I have hard time blaming the people who happen to be the ingabitants of the region today.
How can anyone say the good people of Kentucky "Have it coming" yet the ones truly responsible for the moral decay are still shopping on Rodeo Drive in the warm sunshine?

Re: Is God judging America
As it was in the days of Sodom......
Sodom was probably a very tiny town compared to most of our towns today.
Oh no no no YHWH not have done something like that.

How does the destruction of Sodom compare to Kentuckians going without power for a few days?
And don't get me wrong... I'm not the one wishing misfortune upon the innocent and even the righteous who are in KY and suffering this inconvenience.
Michael the Dis's analysis of the problem (and correct me if I've misunderstood you here Mikey) - Planned Parenthood and NARAL aborted fetuses from sea to shining sea - millions of them.
God gets angry and ... ZOT!!! - the lights go out in churches and the homes of saints - but only in the rather conservative bastion of Kentucky.
Michael the Dis compares this to the Judgment of God upon Sodom where not one single righteous man could be found.
Sorry. Nothing matches up here.

Timmy
Nothing like tuning out and turning off the Old Testament!
If He did not do those things, then is the Old Testament a lie?
Help me to understand where you are coming from, unless you are just joking.
You do believe that God sent plagues and pestilence in the Old Testament? Don't you?
How about in the Book of Acts. We see area famines mentioned there!
Hopefully you were just jokin.

Maybe those in Kentucky should have been praying more! I do think that could be a problem!
My origional question is whether some view what is happening in this country as judgment? Because of the amount of abortions happening.

Re: Is God judging America
Some balance: after the last glaciation ended around 10,000 years ago the climate changed so suddenly that huge dust storms were spawned across North America. The dust storms were so bad that they laid down dust several feet thick in some places along the Atlantic seaboard such as around Chesapeke Bay.
These storms were so destructive that the "mega fauna" were all wiped out. Woolly mammoths, mastodons, camels and even horses along with giant ground sloths, sabertooth cats and dire wolves.
Who sinned to bring on that devastation?
