We dodged the bullet here in Fort Smith. We got just a little ice accumulation from the freezing rain on Monday night and then just a cold rain on Tuesday.
It changed back over to freezing rain and sleet last night late and it was a total mess on the roads here this morning. I had to go not over 15 mph to get Jamie to work at the ER. People driving crazy fast and doing spins and going into the ditch. I just waved as I went by.
In Fayetteville, an hour north, they got upwards of two inches in ice acumulation and hundreds of thousands without electricity. There are a lot of GREAT pictures on this website of the damage and destruction.
we have 12.5 inches of the white stuff.... my kids tried to dig my car out for me... I got stuck halfway out the driveway...blocking the road... my friend was on the phone with me....trying to help talk me through getting unstuck... he was upset I was even attempting to go to work.
A guy in a big SUV came along and towed my car out and got me started on my way... I live 1 mile from work and it took me a while to get here...
We are stuck in Nashville - the entire staff!!! We were here for a staff retreat and were supposed to head back to Jackson today, but we are staying another night. Oh well.,....if you have to be "stuck", the Opryland Hotel is NOT a bad place to be! There are fourteen of us here, so we are just doing another day of meetings, which we really need anyway.
Jackson had sleet and then snow on top of it. There have been several wrecks between here and there! So we will sit here safe and secure and WARM.
My goodness. Just looking at some of these pictures makes me want to go out and put on a coat. We're in the high 40s, and 50s here...my ideal weather. I love this time of year here. Of course, we're just a few months away from the unbearable heat.

I'm getting ready to venture out and start shoveling. My daughter did a little, but it's hard on her, especially with 4 inches of sleet underneath the snow.

We got some rain this morning, the high was 51 degrees this morning and the low is supposed to be 34 degrees tonight. A good day to stay in and read a book!
This is what we have to look forward to tonight.

Blowing snow late this evening and overnight. Wind becoming northeast 30 km/h gusting to 50 this evening. Temperature rising to minus 3 by morning.
