Yeah like the ones we have now are great.
Abortion on demand, gay rights, no prayers in our schools.

I wasn't comparing a hypothetical UPC minister as president to our current leader. Just 'imagining' some of the policies that would attempted to be put in place.

The film, make-up, and 98% of the womens apparel industry shut down. 9 PM curfews (except on Wed and Sunday nights).

I hope your just joking. I think a conservative UPC president would be Republican with libertarian or Constition Party tendencies. They would probably cut social programs, be isolationist in foreign policy, and not really bother the American people too much, he'd let them do their thing and probably cut taxes. Although, I would think he WOULD be against abortion and gay marriage, but he probably would NOT try to put prayer back in schools.

GOD BLESS!

Also, as for polygamous Mormons that are not cultic, I would look into Centennial Park in Arizona, a polygamous sect that allows their women quite a bit of freedom. I would also watch Anne Wilde's five-part youtube interview, where she talks about life as a woman in a plural marriage and about the book she co-authored with her husband. Polygamists aren't all bad.

Lol, now I've heard it all!

WHat about the scripture that says a bishop should be the husband of ONE wife?

Good scripture reference Mike – obviously the NT is supportive of only one spouse –

One wife is enough for me anyway -

Can you imagine how expensive it would be to have 9 wives!

What I wonder about with these polyg. Sects is what do all the young men do? I mean the numbers don't add up.

I don't make nearly enough money to support 9 wives, lol.

That's really a supporting Scripture on polygamy. Are all going to be bishops? No. Are those who have multiple wives barred from being bishops? Is there anything INHERANTLY wrong with a man having multiple wives, from that Scripture? No. Women are also barred from being bishops- is there something inherantly wrong with them? I also stated before that that particular standard could have been put in place to protect the families of men that would be in polygamous marriages. Certainly a man with one wife and kids and also being a bishop has enough on his plate, so a man with many wives should definately NOT seek out being a bishop. The fact is is that Scripture doesn't speak against polygamy. Now this has little affect on us in the USA, but in Africa, if the missionaries had realized this, various families would have stayed together and strong, and perhaps more souls would have been won as opposed to the "monogamy stumblingblock" that was put out for men ALREADY in polygamous marriages.

GOD BLESS!

I had an awful dream about this, last night, or two nights ago... I was in a polygamous compound (I don't know of which group) and I couldn't find a wife and I was REALLY mad at the men taking other wives while I still didn't have one!

Yup... this is what religious studies students dream about, lol...

GOD BLESS!
