Texas Misconceptions

Based on the Alabama thread reminded me of an experience I had many years ago.

I was on a board for hosting a national conference for bankers and we had a hospitality room where the particpants of the conference would come for free food and drinks to be encouraged to come to our conference.

This conference was going to be held in Dallas, Texas and we of course had some Texas grub.

One of the particpants from around Wisconsin asked me if was true that all our cars had horns on them.

I said yes of couse they did.

I thought that was a strange question and ask him didn't theirs have horns on them? He said no, they didn't. Man I thought how odd! I figured they must not be very heavy populated if they didn't need horns.

Then he asked me did we have hitching rails for the horses for people to ride to work? I was like WHAT! I said no there are no hitching rails. Most don't ride their horse to work.

Then he wanted to know did everyone wear a 10 gal cowboy hat? I said some wear hats, can't say they are many 10 gal hats, whatever that was???

Finally, I realized he was asking did we have STEER HORNS on our cars. I laughed so hard when I realized what he was thinking. Then I set him straight that we had horns on our steering wheels that blow sound out and almost no one had a steer horn on their cars or trucks.

How stupid of him.

He and his ilk are responsible for the mortgage melt-down that is going on. He was too stupid to be a banker. He was probably the CEO of Country Wide.

Re: Texas Misconceptions

We had some folks move down here many years ago from Ohio. They were so disapointed when they seen our Road Runners.... they were expecting a big bird that went beep beep...

The heresy hunters are still with us. Only now, instead of stakes, they use their books and radio programs to destroy those they consider heretics.... I'm concerned that heresy hunting may be turning into leukemia because some cultwatchers seem more intent on destroying parts of the body than healing the body....
