Yeah.... she didn't like my answer.

I had to write 1000 times...

"I will never play paper hornets in class again"
"I will never play paper hornets in class again"
"I will never play paper hornets in class again"

But I have a cool mom..... she taught me how to tape several pencils together and write more then one line at a time!!!!!!
You had a great Mom.

She taught you how to be innovative.

I think it's hilarious.

I figure Chan got picked on a lot when he was a kid.

And our Shepherd friend of course was the hardest rock ever quarried.

He was so rough he wore his clothes out from the inside, no doubt.

And as for me, I am just a rabble rouser.
Well, I don't have it in for you, and the first thought that came to my mind was that you are helping your children defy school authorities. There's nothing wrong with helping your kids win a good old fashioned paper hornet fight, but doing it knowing they are gonna do it in school is another matter. Maybe it would have been better to instruct them NOT to do this while at school and encouraged them to organize a hornet fight for after school.

THIS is the pretty much the point that at least a few of us were trying to make.

Chan...

Would it be within the realm of your thinking that Jesus, as a young boy was tested by other boys?

If so, what do you suppose he did?

What does it mean to you that he LEARNED obedience? What does it mean to you that he GREW in statue and wisdom?

Or....

Do you believe that Jesus was some freaky humanoid totally unlike any of us when we were boys...apart from the perverted world mind of today?

Was he? We don't know one way or the other.

I suppose that, like the Bible says, He was without sin.

Quote:

It means what the Bible says: "In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. 8Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered. 9And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him."

Quote:

It means what it says: "And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man."

I believe it is wrong to suggest that Jesus was a mischevious boy like so many boys today. I believe it's wrong to suggest that mischief is somehow appropriate.

Rico, sometimes I agree with you, sometimes I don't.

But on this point, I definately DO.

We've taught our boys from the time they were little that no matter where they go - to school, to a friend's house, to grandma's, wherever! - there are going to be rules. And whether they agree with the rules or not, if they are there, they are to respect those rules and obey them. How can you expect children to obey your rules when you are allowing them to break someone else's?

I agree that boys are boys and will look for things like this to have fun doing. But they need to be directed to do these things in a different place where they are not violating rules. Otherwise, how do teach them respect for authority?

Did Christ protect himself? and does it apply to today?
Christ protected what was His. Remember what He did to those making a market out of the church building. He was on the offense.

I also don't think it's accurate to compare ourselves to Christ. That wasn't the intention of Christ so we would be like Him in every way.

He was perfect. We are far from that.

Well, I really wonder what "turning the other cheek" entails. You are very pointed and stand up for yourself when you are posting, Chancellor. And I like you so I'm not trying to be critical here, but you can come across as angry and accusing, so are you turning the other cheek or standing up for what you view as right for your opinion?
I was thinking the same thing.

Seems to me that some who speak about Jesus being silent and how we should follow suit aren't practicing what they preach.

So your mom taught you how to cheat. Gotcha!

Here's another example of situational ethics, y'all!

Beat her up now!

I'll hold her down!
