Luke 11:11-3
11 Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for
a fish, will give a snake instead of a fish?
12 Or if the child asks for an egg, will give a scorpion?
13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" (NRSV).

This is very good! It would make a terrific Father's Day thread! I have
waited to tell some stories of my own (True) of fathers I have known,
Two of our sons, and others, as well as my own late father whose memory I cherish, even
though he has been gone seventeen years. His godly example in getting
the Word of God in his eleven children, and many of his grandchildren, his
disciplined prayer life, soft voice, firmness (he didn't have ot raise
his voice), he demanded respect just the way he looked at us. He made
sure we eleven all got good educations, had good work ethics, by example
as well as teaching. We all graduated, not by the skin of our teeth either.
We were expected to measure up to his expections of us. We were not
dummies and he expected us to show grades on our report cards to prove it!
I met Wed. with a few of my classmates that graduated together 50 yrs.
next month. Not one of the 30+ graduates in my class have died in 50 yrs.
They call it a miracle. Just as we eleven, ages 49-68 (my oldest brother will
be 69 in July). We are alive and we thank God for our blessings. The Bible
says "the just man is blessed and his children after him". Just another promise
from the Father! The just man shall live by his faith. My dad and mother were
known as people of faith. They didn't brag about how much faith they had!
They lived and practiced it! Well, what can man say! The Bible says that they
that trust in the LORD shall be as Mt. Zion, which CANNOT be removed, but
abideth (liveth) forever. Ps.125:1
Ps. 1:1 speaks of the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor standeth in the way of sinners, not sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD and in His law doeth he meditate
day and night. It tells us, that man shall be like a tree planted by the rivers
of waters which bringeth forth his fruit in his season. His leaf also shall not
wither and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. But the ungodly are not so, but
are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore, the ungodly shall not
stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For
the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly
shall perish. Such a man/woman is anchored in the Living God!!! Our spiritual
roots are like anchors, firmly established on the Rock, Christ Jesus!
Blessings,
