I'm sure it's no different than the old fellowshiip rules.

In the UPC the hammer comes down selectively depending on how much stroke you have.

And face it ... weddings and funerals are sacred services.

If it's taboo to preach in a guy's church because he's NCO or whatever, shouldn't it be taboo for a UPC preacher to preach a funeral or wedding in that same church?

I'm not blaming the "new" generation for this ... that rule has been on the books a long time.

The UPC manual and its selective enforcement has been mostly devoid of common sense since long before my salad days in the ministry.
Very astute observations as always Bro. Timlan.

Re: Resolution 3 Massacre Begins in South Texas Di

I can't speak for the past few years but during the 16 years I was in Austin Anthony only spoke twice for KP that I recall and both times he didn't bring a Bible into the pulpit so technically I think he was "greeting the congregation".

Until a few years ago you could find a couple of sermons by KP preaching at POA on their online bookstore but I noticed that they disappeared at some point. Not sure why. It might have just been due to how old they were.

I don't think KP cares at all about being placed "under question" by the UPC since it has been 30 years since he left the org.!!!!! Sounds like a day late and a dollar short to me.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Also, maybe because Than Haney's Dad is Gen. Supt. an editor might be afraid to change what he submitted.
Because of my dad's relationships with Ewart and Haney I have many of their 'un'sanitized writings.

It would be awesome if you could make a collaboration of those writings - - I bet there would be many that would be interested in adding them to their library!

My dad left 2 huge filing cab. FULL of his papers. It will take years to sort thru it.....when I have the time and energy. Unfortunately I think he also gave some things to the UPCI historical society...

Great idea , Renda.!!

Wouldn't it be fab if we all perceived the fellowship within the UPC, that Bro Suber perceives in the AWCF? If that were a reality, I probably would never have left the UPC.

Hopefully, he only gave them copies!

Perhaps it'd be best to scan them as you sort.......I do hope some day that you will be able to do just that!

Re: Resolution 3 Massacre Begins in South Texas Di

You guys are hilarious.

Holocaust, massacre, cult, etc. Comparing the UPCI to Hitler's Germany, Jones' Guyana, and traitorous acts. And you think the UPC should be ashamed? That is quite laughable.

Even funnier, "It iwas the cons agenda to sanitize and they got their way with this Resolution!" seems to be the cry. Yet, it seems some of you have forgotten that it was at this very same GC that the "cons" lost the vote on the TV resolution. Now who is really confused? It appears you guys like to make the "facts" fit your argument. Talk about hyperbole.

For those who want to know "How do we know who is under question?" Believe it or not that procedure was already in the Manual before this Resolution ever passed.
