Okay...let's go there...

The Bible says to train up a child in the way he should go.

Both of CS's boys have been baptized and Spirit filled...sounds like the Word to me...

That, I think, is so much of the problem. Too many Christians today try to justify their being part of this wicked world and to justify behaving like the world does.

Not hidden meanings. That would imply that I am not taking the comments at face value. Wouldn't you agree, even if misunderstood, we take a comment and interpret that at face value?

There's a difference between standing up for what is right (and there is no "right" outside of God's word) and violating Jesus' command to turn the other cheek. You and others here are trying to justify things that are considered acceptable in American culture instead of conforming your thinking to the word of God.
Well, I really wonder what "turning the other cheek" entails. You are very pointed and stand up for yourself when you are posting, Chancellor. And I like you so I'm not trying to be critical here, but you can come across as angry and accusing, so are you turning the other cheek or standing up for what you view as right for your opinion?

I guess I don't understand the difference. If He is angry, at any time, is He turning the other cheek or are you saying there are times when action supersedes the turning?

Your interpretations suggest that you're not taking comments to mean exactly what is written.

What it means is found in the specific verse of scripture in which the phrase is contained.

I think that when I read something I say, "I am reading you to mean" with no ulterior motive behind that.

Which means that to have a full understanding of any scripture you have to balance that teaching with the whole.
