judging again huh, how typical, shew away to your socialist healthcare thread, by bye, dt
Oh please. I'm not judging. No more than anyone else is by calling me a Socialist.
Here's the deal...socialism is a symptom. It's a symptom of moral failure of a society. The more a society fails to care for those in need through just practices in business and charity...the more you will see the people being left behind rising to the level of socialism for survival. When wealth and power are agregated into the hands of a few...it births revolutions. Unjust monarchy birthed Democracy...and agregated wealth without biblical social justice births socialism.
Hey...if you lived in ancient Israel God's Law command you to leave the corners and edges of your fields for the poor. Is that socialism? Would any charge God of being a socialist?

Also a third year's tithe was gathered from the entire nation to feed the poor, widows, orphans, and strangers. That was God's command...is that socialistic?

We do not live under the letter of the Law...however the Law teaches us principles of holiness and justice. For example capital punishment. While as Christians many personally would advocate against it, the government is perfectly within it's rights to impliment capital punishement biblically. It's a principle.
Translate the principles behind the Poor Tithe and the Gleaning Rights to modern society. The point? The people as a nation is responsible for caring for the "least of these". That is why Rabbinical scholars in Israel also support Israel's national Health system, to protect the health of all...even the poor, stranger, orphan, and widow.
