Ice Road Truckers

Have any of you been keeping up with this program? It's on the History Channel and is about truck drivers that deliver their loads by driving over frozen lakes up in Canada. It's a good program.

and it's needs Mike Rowe to narrate it.

but I'm not saying anything

LOL! Deadliest Catch is a good one too. It has to be nerve wracking for those truckers. You can hear the ice cracking even in the cab of the truck. Them guys don't have a chance if their truck falls through the ice.

what bugs me is this:

1. they have to bleep every other word...why cant they just speak without using profanity?

2. they have ANNOYING accents.

Deadliest Catch is the best....but Mike Rowe is what makes it good I think - the first season of DC was blah until they changed the format a tad and got Mike Rowe.

Dirty Jobs is fun to watch too...he's hilarious

Well, they are truckers, ya know. That Hugh fella cusses a lot, that's for sure. I think their accent is neat, though. The way they say, "Eh" and "out."

they ALL cuss - except for the one who prayed to some saint asking him to pray to God for him for his safety...

I was like "dude, you can pray to God directly yourself"....

my husband looked at me like I'd lost my mind....

I thought you weren't going to say whether you watch the show or not! Heheeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I overlook all that stuff and don't worry about it too much. Those fellas have guts! Even if I were a truck driver I don't know that I would take that kind of chance on all that ice.

my husband watches it - I cant help it if I was in the room with him...LOL

but we didnt watch it all, or he didnt

too much bleeping of the dialogue - Sure we can overlook it but I choose not to even hear it b/c even if they bleep it, you "think" what they really said and I dont want to expose myself to that kind of language b/c well..it's not good

Case in point...

we watch, used to watch, a lot of law and order b/c they shows are generally mild and clean. I didnt realize how much "Mild profanity" they used until one day my 3 yr old got mad at something and let a cuss word fly. We just looked at each other b/c it's not something we say or have ever said, you know? We were stumped about were she'd heard it...a couple of days later a L&O was playing in the background, we werent even watching it - my little one was playing on the floor not watching it either and I told my husband to just listen at the TV - he did and they used that phrase repeatedly....we changed our tv viewing habits drastically. In fact, we dont have it on in common areas at all . We have one in our bedroom that we'll watch when we are going to bed or getting ready. Even then it's something usually like Dirty Jobs or Man vs. Wild, How it's made (my favorite) or Ultimate factories....

LOL!!

See? That's what ya get for letting kids in the room during adult oriented tv programs!

I'm just givin ya a hard time! We try keeping track of what our kids see on the tube too, but my wife isn't as good at it as I am. We watch a lot of TVLand, Discovery, History Channel, and Court TV. My wife likes the Sci-Fi channel. I don't like that one too much.

we try to just keep it off...

my husband doesnt see anything wrong with tv, as long as you monitor what you watch.....I wish sometimes we didnt have one at all - but it is ok sometimes, as long as you are careful about what you watch. But as I've said in other threads, even commercials are getting out of hand...its getting harder and harder to find decent programming.

I was raised without tv and was just fine...
