Studying the book of Romans and trying to catch up in my Greek class.
I spent a week discussing the scriptures with a DTS student on CARM.
Dan, did you know there is only one verse that directly says we are saved by grace through faith?
Eph 2:8 Salvation is linked to faith in Christ and the grace of God. If I use the reasoning some folks do, I would wonder why it is not emphasised more and if these are the only things needed why do the disciples go to great lengths to baptize new converts (middle of the night, that very day)?
In Romans, righteousness and justification are by faith (not by the works of the law) but these verses don't negate the necessity of baptism in Jesus' name for remission of sins and the baptism of the Spirit with the evidence of tongues for salvation either.
It seems some totally disregard some verses and hold to others when there should be a harmony of all the scripture.
Dan, If there is one truth, how are we born again?
