Ok, assuming that is the case, here you go.

You have to be the judge of what is immodest to you. WHO do you or any of us think we are when we think we can simply look at someone and estimate what level of modesty that individual is supposed to have.

In fact, let me ask you this. You do not look for or at people and say to yourself, "hmm, he is modest, she is dressed modest, that outfit, that clothing is modest..."

No!! You/we pick out people that may not hold the same convictions, and you/we look at them, make a judgement that this person could possibly cause us to lust in our heart, we lust, and therefore we proclaim them to be immodest with a certain indignance that feigns repentance for LOOKING in the first place.

So there you have it.
you lost me at the emboldened.

Bro, this is where we start walking different paths.

Every person on the planet reguardless of their background, faith, or "level of conviction" should be expected to maintain a certain (desernable) level of modesty. I never met a person who violated that baseline level that didnt have issues in a bigtime way.

Congratulations, you just left liberal and went radical.

I am ex-upc.. I was raised in the upc.. baptized in Jesus' name in a upc church and first filled w/ the Holy Ghost in a upc camp ground.. the upc has done much good in the world.. yet i am very saddened by the direction alot of upc churches are taking.. seems they are getting more and more worldly everyday.. not all.. some... there are many many good strong churches left.. and i'm not one to condemn to hell those who are more liberal minded than myself.. i just don't want to go to church there!
i go to an independent church now and i haven't regretted one second of it! If i had to move to a different area where there was no conservative church i would go to a more liberal upc church that no church at all.. by all means.. I am NOT throwing stones @ UPC!!

So there you have it.

The Bible does not explicitly say what is and what is not modest in terms of dress. It does tell us their should be distinction between the sexes and that
we should be modest. Modestly is just common sense. For instance,
our conscience tells us a G string is displaying too much flesh. For that matter
I believe a normal bikini would be as well.
Now does the scripture explicitly tell us exactly where the modestly line is at or not at? No, but I believe if one lives within the standards of modesty that have been taught in our churches then one certainly does not have to worry about crossing the line of immodesty and offending the Lord. I am not saying everything we teach is heaven or hell (dress length etc...), but it is certainly safe. I would rather lean too far to the safe side, than walk too far on the
worldy side and be wrong.
I believe in the concept and principle of modesty in adornment. I will not say
every standard is heaven or hell, but I believe it is right to be modest, and it
is wrong to be immodest.

Radical? Give me a break Fird.

Ferd, your expectations mean absolutely nothing because you cannot live up to the bar that I would set for you.

It is a good thing you don't live your life to please me, you would be a miserable wretch...and vice versa.

Ok, we are talking about baseline expectations? Well, I believe that society has a baseline for decency and modesty and would frown on the same things you would. We are expected to wear certain things in certain places, and those who are found to be in compromising situations do not find themselves within our societal norms.

We all see people that according to our societal norms, as I mentioned previously, need to modify their appearance.

Are we on a different spiritual plane than those around us where we can become spiritually indignant because a girl is wearing small, tight, and see-through, but we are guilty of having a judgemental attitide.

What of those who haven't been taught better, what if they have horrible backgrounds and that is what causes them to have a careless attitude.

Just be normal for crying out loud...

You keep crossing back and forth over the tracks of standards, common sense, church culture, modesty, and scriptural tennant, and each has a very distinct application in this discussion.
