Probably, and for the same reasons - I'm pessimistic by nature. This means I'm wrong a lot, but I'm seldom disappointed.
Strengthens it some. There's been a building backlash against the spirit behind the AS, IMHO. This may be all that's needed to quell the backlash and so the momentum will swing back to the "UC" side; or "progressives" may feel emboldened now.
Who knows? That's why they play the game (or insert favorite cliche here...).

lots of confession here!

I was wrong. I thought it would be much later in the 21st century before the UPC made any moves to join the 20th century.
I am very, very surprised. I felt that probably a small majority did favor the resolution but that a significant number of moderate supporters would vote no in an effort to "preserve unity".
Perhaps the mods with the swing votes decided that nothing is really going to keep the ultra cons happy as even without this resolution allowing advertising on TV the ultra cons have been upset at so many other things.
The trend toward ultra cons holding so many of their own meetings and boycotting official UPC ones might have also convinced some moderates that they should vote their conscience and not just to try to placate those who will not be placated.

I was also surprised it passed. I'm in favor, but in reality only a few churches have the resources to really use TV, so did it really have to be voted on by all.
Many of those against couldn't afford it anyway . jmho:sshhh

You were wrong. The numbers are 52% to 48% pro res 4.
Why did you miss it?
What do you attribute this to??
Are you also wrong about the current direction of the UPC in other areas?
Some will likely leave over this vote. Does this strengthen the progressive movement within the church even more?
Ya got the mic.

Brother I feel really super sad over this. I can't stop thinking about the Charisma magazine article and where it said that they interviewed a UPCI minister who said that within the United Pentecostal Church International they were working on reform from the inside.
I think that article was 9 years ago and here we are and it has happened.
When I heard that it passed around 11 am I was so sad, I just don't know what more I can say.
I never wanted this to happen and I really would rather that everyone could get along and reach at least our own country together. Television is not the answer and never will be. The United Pentecostal Church International has just taken the first step into commercialism and that only leads to cheapness. Now the men will have to wear base make-up when they make their television advertisements.

I'm disapointed, but I couldn't go anyway. I have a family that is more important than the GC. Oh, and I still love the UPC in spite of this grevious fallback.

"Grevious," Bro? That bad? All they did was undo a resolution that was passed in the 1970's. I'm not trying to minimalize your feelings, I just want to understand. I don't really see any big change.

You're worried about base make-up ... while men are deciding their futures ... livelihoods ... weighing their principles w/ their friendships ... counting the costs of their emotional and time investments .... their entire lives turned upside down ... unsure of their fellowship.
While Jesus is still saying:
These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.'
You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men.

Time will tell how grevious, I hope that I'm wrong. The problem with the resolution is money. I've seen tele-evang, all they seem to want is money, do you think that they really care about souls? Time will tell.

Dan, Dan, Dan....tsk tsk tsk, Why do you even care what the UPC does? Does it make you feel better, or justified since you left? Hmmmmmm.
