Old houses come with their pros & cons but they are nice overall.

We had to take the beadboard down in a room we are converting to a master bath... the beadboard was put up with square nails.

I just love old houses.
We are very excited ,I had the date we are closing wrong, its not until the
12th.
It has a wine cellar, which we won't need. I wonder if we could sell it.

Wine Cellars are still good for holding groceries....

I would be suspect of rodent/animal damage having been vacant for 2 yrs. Also has the galvanized plumbing been updated... largest loss for homeowners is now due to WATER. They rust inside out and all of a sudden you hear a drip and it is INSIDE of a wall.

Nothing compares to the character of older houses!

We had it inspected and there are somethings that has to be taken of.
The wine cellar seemsto be in great condition.

Growing up my parents and I lived in an older home with twelve foot ceilings and
three fire places.I loved it.It was somewhat expensive to heat and cool though.
The other thing I loved about the house was that it had two porches. One in front and one on the side.Louisiana has alot of nice trees and you can grow a
nice lawn.Your kids are going to love growing up in a nice big house. Its also
wonderful to decorate around the holidays.I have terrific memories of our house
with all the large live oaks.

We finally found our house, built in 1915 ,5400 sq. ft. and its 5 min from LSU in the Garden District.
We will be doing alot of work on the house including a new kitchen.
We will not be moving in until Sept. 1st. Got to have a kitchen!!
I will post pics of the house when I can. It is an interesting old house. It has been empty for close to 2 years.
Pics coming soon.
Troy just told me I have the closing date wrong, its not until the 12th.
Great! It sounds fun.

Our home is 1904 and 3000 sq ft plus unfinished open attic and full cellar with a grape juice cellar on the side....:sshhh

Mrs. CC1 loves those old houses. Me less so because I am not a handyman!

It is a smart move having a nice kitchen put in before moving in. I imagine with that much square footage you are going to enjoy having enough room for everybody.

Congratulations! I can see you now loving life as a Southern Belle sitting on the front porch of your antebellum home sipping iced tea while watching Troy mow the lawn! LOL
