Sure wish back in high school I hadn't been too snobby to join the rednecks in auto shop class.

Isn't that the truth. Some of us have talked about how we wish we would have taken shop in HS but back then you were considered a dummy.

also dont leave fuel in it, in off season without putting a fuel stabilizer in it ,this new ethanol fuel is terrible on small engines ,very corrosive, it breaks down after a month too

Re: Small engine repair thread
Ok, I posted this in two other threads. But I just used a VP product called Fix It Fuel. I put it into an old dirty saw which had been sitting with old fuel in it since 2001. It started after 2 pulls. Amazing to say the least.

I'll have to give it a try, if I can find it local.

The website gives you your closet dealer when you enter your zip.
Today, I'm going to put it in a motorcycle and a few other motors.

A closet dealer?
He needs to get out of the closet!
What's wrong with him?

I've called the closest dealer to me and his phone is disconnected. I drive by the shop all the time. He is still in business. I called the VP distributor but just get an automated voice mail. So, they must all be closet dealers.

Re: Small engine repair thread
Amazing how poor fuel quality is now. I have rebuilt so many cabs in the last year for friends, etc. I have found that adding something like seafoam keeps the fuel from cruding everything up. Also anything with a fuel shutoff gets the carb run dry after each use and that has helped a lot.

Re: Small engine repair thread
The poor fuel is directly linked to ethanol. People who use their machinery on a day to day basis never notice. Yet, equipment that sits for a long period of time will give you trouble. Seafoam works also running a carb dry before putting the equipment up. Primer bulbs on chainsaws, weedwhackers, Concrete saws, blowers, and arguers disintegrate due to ethanol destroying the rubber.
