When i was led to the schism at the councils of Trent in the establishment of the doctrine of Original Sin, my initial conclusions were that Western Christianity swallowed the doctrine, and EChristianity rode off into the sunset with some more loving concept of Christ or whatever, absent the doctrine.

Alas, it did not seem to be that way, at least imo. EC as a dogma is as dead as any other religion. And the people are like any other people.
