I don't think mainstream GOP'ers want that at all.

Do you see what I am talking about with Jeb's statement?

You don't see the wrong in this?
I know they don't vote for the Dems for free stuff. They vote for Dems because they've been convinced through brainwashing that the GOP is the racist white party.

Have you ever once stop to think how that makes Republicans feel? If we are continually alienated over our race, one day we will collectively realize that our race is under attack and start fighting back. I pray that day never has to come.

There will be some who will read this and seriously wonder, "Well what's wrong with this? I don't understand."

smh

It would be comical if so many other GOP'ers were not in denial.
what's wrong with free stuff?

Originalist,
This is an instance of a white Republican insulting black people. This kind of talk and attitude is found throughout the ranks of the GOP. Jeb Bush isn't the first or the last to do this.

With that said, do you see the problem with the mindset Jeb is displaying?

Do you see the insult and throwback to old and racist stereotypes?

I am trying to help you see why the GOP has the reputation it has.

So it's offensive that he believes blacks want to have earned success?

It's offensive that he believes blacks are tired of division and of being told to get in line so that they will be taken care of with free stuff?

I guess people will always find offense where they want to find offense.

I agree. Jeb is a dork to start with.

But what about the things blacks do that reinforce those stereotypes?

Jeb isn't the only one though. Gingrich, Santorum, other GOP'ers, running for national position-- it seems, like I said, the GOP employs this tactic in a bid to win support within their party.

What about the MILLIONS of American blacks that live their lives everyday in defiance of the stereotypes?

In the 70's, 80's and 90's, the stereotype for mass and serial killers was the middle-aged white male. Kidnappers and child molesters-- the middle-aged white male. Corporate and white collar crime-- the middle aged white male.

So which political party made it a platform-- which political party made addressing the middle-aged white male problem a talking point, a way to connect with voters, which political party made it a way to score points with their constituents?

No one because it would have been idiotic. Sure they dominate those types of crimes but are most middle-aged white males mass murderers, serial killers, child molesters, kidnappers, or white collar criminals?

The GOP makes targeting the behavior of some blacks a talking point because it compliments the prejudices that apparently many in the GOP share. I say apparently many because the GOP has been using this same tactic since the 1980's-- and it works for many of the people that participate in political primaries, many of the people who form their base.

You must be thinking of a different party. The GOP I know runs scared anytime some accuses them (falsely or not) of racism.

As for the stats you cite. Sure whites commit the most crimes because we are still close to 70% of the population. But we can also discuss stats that show blacks commit violent crimes in a very disproportionate number to their population representation.

Let's also talk about the rejection successful blacks often receive within their own community for being "too white".

Re: Jeb Bush-- I Couldn't Make This Up Myself!

Originalist,

The subject of this thread is how the GOP uses a subtle form of racism to win votes. They do this at the expense of black voters. They do this often. They have been doing this since the 1980's. Jeb wasn't the first to do this.

So I explained to you how it doesn't make sense to make the ostracizing of an entire race of people part of your political campaign to win more votes by bringing up another racial stereotype that has some semblance of statistics to back up the stereotype-- but of course it is foolish to make it a political talking point to back handedly or point blank talk about the middle-aged white males as if they are all guilty of the crimes I mentioned.

I acknowledged that it is foolish to do that. What I would like is for you to acknowledge that it is indeed foolish for the GOP to do the same thing, election cycle after election cycle.

In fact, the crimes I mentioned that are dominated by the middle-aged white male, are not dominated by middle-aged white males simply because there are more middle-aged white males. It really isn't that simple at all and I hope you realize that.
