He really affected my view of what it meant to be a Christian. He will be missed!

We had just moved into another house in 1966. I was 13 years old and unsaved. The people that lived there before us left behind a book in the Kitchen that caught my attention. It was called "The Cross And The Switchblade".

As I recall no one in our family touched that book for a while. Later on I picked it up and read it and was greatly moved. It brought faith to me. My folks were attendes at the Church Of Christ. This was different. Preaching outside on the street. To gangs and street people. God answering prayer and leading by his spirit.

Although I did not repent at that time I remember using that book for my school book reports for several years afterwards. When I did repent years later the Lord brought me into contact with his ministry shortly. He was indeed a big influence in my early walk with Jesus.

I think you could safely say he was the instrument used to start the "Jesus Movement" of the 60's and 70's.

A man who knew how to weep over sin, who understood the need for Gospel preaching, and then live it out. Such men are rare to find. In this age of keyboard terrorism in Christianity and self-righteousness, this man stood head and shoulders above his peers as a preacher of righteousness, fulfilling the call of god upon his life in a powerful way.

In all honesty, his passing has given me cause to reflect on my life. Am I doing what Christ has called me to do? No, and this I say in repentance. Am I living a Christ centered life, or am I becoming again a robot clone of what some want me to be? Is my life reflecting Christ in such a way that people see me and say they want what God has given to me? This man has done the work of hundreds and God was glorified because of his work.

A soldier has gone home. Now, who's gonna fill his shoes? Who's gonna stand that tall?

What a final devotional... I'm sure this man affected people during his lifetime serving the Lord in what manner he knew best.

For me, I have come to see God saving people regardless of what people lay on the name over the door. I said some things on here concerning people dropping the title Apostolic. I openly apologize for this. It is one thing to have a title, but another to live the life.

Bro. Wilkerson was a great brother, great man of God, and I am working in Christ through Christ to see him again in Heaven standing before the throne.

I just watched some of his youtube videos last night and didn't even know he had passed on!

Two books written in the 1960's -- The Cross and the Switchblade and They Speak With Other Tongues-- had an effect on me. They helped me to realize that The House of God was much larger than the little room that some of us choose to live in.

I was back in my den/office last night when I saw the news that David Wilkerson had died. I walked out into the family room and told my wife. She responded with joy in her voice and said something like, "Well, now he has it made!"
