What is our Role in Salvation?

Is there anything we must do? Many things.

Must we repent? Must we be baptized in water? Must we receive the Holy Spirit?

To be clear:

The traditional Apostolic standards such as clean shaving, women not cutting hair have no scriptural backing and are no part of the process.

We are the recipients.

Our role in conversion/discipleship. That's our part after salvation.

Salvation is past, present, and future. We have a role in the entire process.

Yet all the way through it is God working in us both to will and do of his good pleasure.

Our role is faith--read Romans! We are justified by faith in the blood (Romans 3). If we believe in our heart and confess that belief with our mouths we are saved (Romans 10). Jesus paid the price, shed his blood, and applied that blood once for all! When you believe that, you are as saved as you will ever be.

Saved people get baptised. Saved people receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Saved people take on the nature of Christ and bear the fruit of the Spirit. All of these things are about kingdom living not about eternal salvation.
