Hypocrisy at its finest, ladies and gentlemen.
JD, be honest, if it were someone else like I listed above ... would you still have been ok with it. Doubtful. I almost guarantee you if Limbaugh would've said it, you'd be foaming at the mouth talking about how mean he is and how much you'd love to just spit on his grave.
Again, hypocrisy.

Thanks for your comments.
Maybe it is hypocrisy, but I am not real sure.
The hypocrisy you are talking about is the fact that I am fine with what Matthews said but if Limbaugh had said it, I wouldn't be fine with it.
If that is what you are talking about, it is true that I would not be fine at all if Limbaugh had said it.
The difference goes back to perception.
My perception of Limbaugh or Imus would not allow me to truly believe that Limbaugh or Imus could possibly mean that in a positive way.
My perception of Matthews allows me to give him the benefit of doubt.
Is it prejudiced to compare the records of the three men, there own words, in deliberating the intents of their future statements? I don't think it is, but maybe I'm hypocritical.
I don't think Matthews is bigotted.
But Sam made a good point, in his sarcasm.
I'd like for him to elaborate on his thoughts. Given Sam's background, I'm really interested in his take on the Matthews flap and the mularkey that's happening in his home state.

Oletime,
Do you want the first thing that people think about when they think of you in the professional world, or even personally, is your skin color?

I think there was nothing wrong with the remarks by Matthews. It´s being blown way out of proportion. If anything, he was complimenting Obama.

I agree with you, but I grew up in Maryland with "uppity" white southerners who thought they were Yankees, who when hearing remarks like this, point to their one or two token black friends that they have and say, "Yeah, that's why "Paul" is such a good guy-- he's black but he's not like the other black people I know of, he's different."
The difference is the ugliness that is associated with "black" in the minds of those "uppity" white Yankees, sophisticates and wannabees.
Do you see what I'm trying to say?
However, with Matthews, when you examine his on air demeanor of the past and present, it is very hard to for me to truly ascribe that same ugliness to his statement.
Chris Matthews is blatantly infatuated with President Obama and has been a staunch supporter of him from the beginning.

This is simply not true.
Of the three you mentioned, only one has a track record where a strong argument could be made that there is some racial bigotry. Mind taking a guess of who that one might be?

I know exactly what you're trying to say - I grew up in Mississippi.

Really?
I have an ex-girlfriend from Moss Point and I was a part of 890th Combat Engineer Detachment in Pascagoulah, MS. I lived right across the border in Grand Bay, AL and lived in Mobile for awhile too.
