what is ironic about this is due to Indian gaming here in Ca most Indians live a LOT better than most Americans. They each get a house and like 100k to start out with. I know blacks that are living the American dream with much more than I might ever have, went to University like Columbia, own a home and are making 6 figure incomes....

Even the poor in America enjoy a higher standard of living than many people in Europe. The exceptions are generally people who have taken themselves out of "the system" for one reason or another - usually due to mental health issues.
I still say that the real test of what kind oif place America is can be found at our borders. If more people are clamouring to get in than to get out- then America must be a pretty good place.
Yes, there were times of injustice. Look at how the native Americans enslaved and persecuted one another. In cases like the Caribs, they even ate one another. Real continent-wide freedom and justice never came until relatively recently - and it came because it was a part of the ideals of the "new-comers."
It's kind of ironic: the African-American slaves are free today because a white slave holder declared that "all men are created equal..."
