Re: Regarding ORDINATION

I believe something powerful happens when there is laying on of hands by those in authority over you. We ordain our ministers, after they have met the requirements, and we expect them to move to a higher level of commitment and spirituality afterwards.

Do you make a distinction between ministers and ordained ministers ... and what are the requirements for ordination ??? ....

What additional monetary requirements are there and are there any extended benefits to ordination through LTC ?

What is the basis for your feelings on this issue?

No money requirements. LOL! As far as qualifying requirements, they have to read a pretty extensive list of books and watch some DVDs that Eddie requires. All of our pastoral staff are ordained ministers; there are a few lay members who have been, but most are not.

I'm not sure what you mean by benefits. Financially I guess they can now claim a pastoral housing allowance if they're ordained staff. I think the greatest benefits are spiritual.

We just believe that scripture proves something powerful happens when there is anointing/laying on of hands.

That would be the clear contrast to the 3 tiered system the UPCI has between local, general and ordained minister ... as well as the monetary requirements ....

I am definitely for some type of training and mentorship ....

I figured that all the pastoral staff was ordained ... as I didn't recall JC having to go through any tiers.

Some of the political benefits within the org deal with being able to eligible for various higher offices.

I also believe that something powerful happens when there is anointing/laying on of hands.

A minister has hands laid on him many times in his life as is the case for most everyone and the anointing is something that is with a minister daily.

I am speaking of a notion that this anointing increases or changes in some way on the day... or the moment... he is ordained.
