Re: Patriots Without Integrity

When, all the while, the person making the charge isn't even living "the message" himself.

It's all about chest-thumping, preening and peacockery.

Brother Atkinson,

Far too often, I see men who have been trained to parrot the "hold the fort" mantra. Men who have learned what it takes to be accepted and used within even the most traditional circles. Men who toe the party line (verbally) so as not to "limit opportunities."

Men who say one thing, and live another.

All in the name of social acceptance and the almighty dollar.

At some point, when Pentecostal culture has fully adapted to this current culture shift, those men will follow the money trail.

Their patriotic fervor will abate, and morph into something entirely different.

And the reason will be that they are patriots without integrity.

I firmly believe there are some men who have firm convictions. I admire them.

There are other men who parrot everyone else's convictions, because it is politically and financially expedient.

I do not respect that.

Further, I think men who parrot the party line, live something different, and then employ McCarthyism to root out other, more open, non-conformists are going to spend an eternity in Hell - right along with a host of other unrepentant liars and hypocrites.

Re: Patriots Without Integrity

Some like to point out others faults as a way to smooth over their own.........

Re: Patriots Without Integrity

Why is this so very often when one disagrees with a view of another, instead of discussing the difference, the person whom one disagrees with gets a character assaination ?

Re: Patriots Without Integrity

Some people are too judgemental and think they are on par with God.

Re: Patriots Without Integrity

To temper the conversation a little--mistakes in a man's life (or a woman's) do not necessarily undermine the whole of his contributions.

David is a prime example. He would qualify as a "Patriot Without Integrity", or maybe, "A Patriot Who Only Had Integrity Sometimes."

It's important to teach our children to have integrity, but it's equally important to teach them that one mistake--or even 100--does not mean they're big, worthless failures. Or make sure they understand that failing doesn't negate their successes.

And also that pride goeth before a fall and with judgement we meet out it will be measured back to us. So maybe we should pray for these folks that are headed for correction that God will enable them to learn and grow.

Re: Patriots Without Integrity

Amen look at Abraham and his boo boos yet God didn't kick him out of the covenant.
David payed for his error, yet God didn't boot him out,Saul erred and he was rejected.
While we should strife for obedience, and we can fall from grace, yet if we err we can find grace and mercy and get back on track.
My goodness look at Peter the man who denied The Lord, yet this same man preached on the Day Of Pentecost, now if that ain't grace what is it ?

I agree completely.

I realize I am a man with many, many flaws.

But I am trying very hard to escape the evil mentality that fosters "gotcha" theology.
