Re: Do you BELIEVE in Christian education?

Mine did public school, homeschool, and private Christian school. I much prefer the private Christian school, even though it was named Trinity Christian Academy. LOL! It was nice to know that they were getting basic Bible teaching in every subject and had Godly influences for teachers. There was "stuff" that went on with some of the kids, but they would kick them out if it got bad. It was pretty strict.

Re: Do you BELIEVE in Christian education?

My three daughters graduated from Christian schools and I taught in Christian schools for 15 years so you might say I believe in Christian education.

I taught in both UPC and Nazarene schools. In the Nazarene school we did not teach Nazarene doctrine nor did we teach UPC doctrine in the UPC schools. Two of my daughters taught in Christian schools and the third taught adult level computer classes for doctors and nurses in a large hospital in Rhode Island.

I am concerned that some home schools as well as some Christian schools are undisciplined in their study habits.

Re: Do you BELIEVE in Christian education?

Yes I believe Christians should be educated.

I prefer homeschool - though we would consider a good Christian School option.

Re: Do you BELIEVE in Christian education?

Whenever I hear someone asking about a Christian education I always have to read between the lines and wonder what they really want. Are they looking for a safer environment then the public school system? Fair enough.... but not ALL public schools are all that bad.
Do they want specific church doctrine to be taught? Fair enough.... but then you better make sure that the school is specific to your denomination AND accredited.

My brother in law is going to be sending his son to a Christian school for the sole purpose of having him taught that the Earth is 6000 years old, and that abortion and gay marriage is bad (I agree on the last two). Will he graduate with a good education and be ready for a career or further college? Not a chance.

Why do you think that? Do you know the school and their academics that well?

If I did not think my children can and will, excel beyond the public school potential, both academically and spiritually, I would have to rethink Homeschooling. That is one of the benefits.

There is actually quite a bit more than the little bit I said concerning this specific situation.
In general, I think home schoolers are better prepared and many christian schools are quite capable of a better education then their public school counterparts.

I just posted based on what I know about this specific family.

No offense intended.

My children went to public school K-12, and I think it was right for us. Obviously you need to check the school situation in your city. We were in another state and a much smaller city which did indeed make a difference.

As for church schools....if you have "real" teachers, it can be a good alternative. Often the education is not up to par based on UPC schools and students that I observed.
I think a good private Christian school sounds like the best selection.

Re: Do you BELIEVE in Christian education?

My wife had no christian school. My children and myself have all had christian schooling.

Physical safety is still an issue at government schools. Our President has always sent the little ones to private school. I think a child can recieve an education inspite of it being a government school.

Right. The important thing is that the parents are involved.
