Nor does Paul say this is a preaching requirement
Can you imagine how confusing it would be for a pastor who pays off his credit card every month... "I am their pastor, I am their pastor-not, I am their pastor...I am their pastor-not"

Then when good ministers seem to have money. We tell them they don't know our struggle. Or they should have nothing.

Re: Question? If you owe

I know a minister that had health issues and was unable to work, and the Church didn't keep him up, so he went bankrupt. Who was really to blame?

Re: Question? If you owe

If our bills are paid we don't really owe until they are due again...I have had times I did not have the money on due date I called to let them know...Things come up ...people get sick, so really each situation is different. The best advice I can think of is, Live within your means and don't use a lot of PLASTIC money unless you are sure you can pay it back...
A lot of common sence is a good thing! Our personal life is very simple...we eat simple, dress simple...I am always asking for something for others but seldom have I ever asked for myself...Things really don't have a pull on me...I hate to shop! lol...

Can you imagine how plain it is, from a pastor who wouldn't think of owning a credit card, and doesn't have any bills, and could not care less what you do with your "tithe," yet seems to, professes to have plenty, the ministry is growing, the building is paid off...heck, the guy never even passes an offering plate!

I understand that this may only sound like some unattainable ideal, and would not suggest that any pastor not currently achieving this is somehow remiss, but that a pastor is held to a different standard, unlike what I have read here, and that this area will reflect spiritually, for a pastor, so that you may be assured of being judged by this higher standard.

Amen, and amen. Well, if you're a preacher burdened with any of the second quote but have realized how you are in bondage there, I would say "amen" to your preaching also. I should prolly add that I owe money, and don't want this to be taken as condemnation of anyone else who does.
