Margie,
Dave's system is so simple and to the point that most anyone can follow it and get out of debt and build wealth.

Went thru it over ten years ago, got rid of credit cards, got out of debt, it is a wonderful understanding of how really simple it is to stay out of debt.

I taught it from the DVD program at our previous church, have taught my children, they will do much better than me, because they got it early. It is a mindset, the culture demands that we have credit cards and spend beyond our means. Guess what the culture is dead wrong, and Dave's teaching is now becoming widely taught in this country and it is changing the way folks live. It is really simple to follow his "get out of debt" system, and never charge again. If it is important, go make more money and pay cash, if the car breaks, pay cash, buy a new car, pay cash. What a novel idea.

We do have them, but I pay them off faithfully every month. We use the points from the credit cards to do a lot of free travel - hotels and flights. So in that case, I think they are beneficial if you have the will power to pay them off each month.
A bank debit card serves the purpose and prevent impulse spending. Most folks will abuse credit cards and get in trouble again. Dave highly discourages credit cards for any reason.

My son went through FPU at his Christian high school and my daughter went through it with her job at Mercy Ministries. I will always be thankful that they heard his message early on in life.

That is so great, Sherri, our children can accomplish great things if we do our job of laying a foundation of truth. "Not allowing ourselves to be pressed into the mold of the culture."

Re: Financial Peace University

Our church does FPU a few times a year. I am going to attend when it starts back. Margie I'm glad you started a thread about it.

Re: Financial Peace University

Our church also does FPU and it has been great for both our members and as an outreach tool to make contacts. My dad is pastoring a home missions church and they are starting to teach FPU as a way of offering a service to the community and making contacts as well. I just wish my husband and I would have heard Dave's message when we first got married. We could have made much better choices along the way.

Re: Financial Peace University

Our church does it a couple times a year as part of our "life focus" ministries and it has been a great success!
