I keep the same standards that I kept when I was first saved. My mom allowed us to wear shorts, pants, she cut our hair, we went swimming in public venues, etc. I didn't start practicing "standards" until I was in my teens.

I kept standards for many years. After we left the UPC about 10 years ago, I gradually went back to exercising some of the the same liberties I had when I was young. Now I've modified some things.

Even though I have liberty, my outward standard is dictated very much by what I consider the Word of God to teach in respect to principle and specifics regarding our outward appearance ...... also according to my own conscience i.e. what I personally feel comfortable about and ....... according to conviction i.e. feeling after what the Holy Ghost is and isn't pleased with in regard to my own personal life.

HAIR
no cutting, trimming, burning, skimming, razors of any kind

MAKEUP
Totally plain,makeup free... although I believe that a little powder on the nose is okay, I've never liked having anything on my face

ATTIRE
skirts past knees, shirts at/past elbows, slits in skirt... nothing shows above knees, top of shirt allows no 'view' when standing straight or otherwise, I hate nylons with a passion + I'm in florida so that's SOOOO not happening, Oh, and nothing skin tight... that defeats the purpose of modesty

JEWELRY
on me... not a stitch (I don't think hair accessories are jewlery, unless they are gold, or silver, or have jewels and pearls) although I think plain watches are okay.... I never had liked liked having anything on my wrists or hands



My standards havn't loosened, the jewelry and make-up were never issues for me anywayz. My ears & button are pierced, but that was from when I was still in the world and they have closed. Funny thing... I never wanted to wear rings... I used to say that when I got married I would get a ring tattooed rather than wear a ring... of course I won't do that now

Well ... I wear pants ... some makeup, when I get adult pimples [OXY] ... and no jewelry and I'm thinking of shaving my head today ... where does that put me????
