Not in sadistic way, but I would enjoy knowing that if zimmy did start this (and from what I've heard he did), should human justice fail to prevail, Divine Justice will not.
Yes, I find comfort in that.
Others find comfort in assigning guilt to the dead minor because it justifies their prejudices.

"That justifies their prejudices" can apply to those that want to hang zimmy before all facts come out.

Zimmy?
"And from what I've heard he did".
Do you realize you just disqualified yourself from jury duty? You are being just as biased in this case as you are claiming others to be.

The quibbling point here would be over whether or not following someone around a neighborhood with a gun on foot and in a vehicle would qualify as "starting something." In our neck of the woods, if someone followed MY child around the neighborhood for ANY reason, we would call the sheriff. And my husband would be confronting them.

It may VERY WELL BE that Trayvon was up to no good. We can't really know that for sure, but based on his spotty record, it's a possibility. Unfortunately for Zimmerman, "suspicious" does not equal "criminal." Tstew was lamenting on another thread being pulled over frequently on I-10, and more than likely that is simply because some ignorant cop thinks anyone (especially a man) with dark skin is "suspicious."
IF Trayvon attacked Zimmerman, then he technically started the altercation, even if it could be understood that he might have been provoked by Zimmerman's harassment.
As for assigning guilt: in the interest of fairness, all angles must be explored. So far, I see an over-zealous man behaving as if he is delusional or paranoid and narcissistically exercising authority he didn't really have. My impression of Zimmerman has been of the security-guard types who think they're more powerful than they really are. Some of those guys (based on the security guards I've encountered or worked with) would be VERY dangerous with a gun, given their limited intelligence and cognitive ability. Anyway, MY understanding of the stand-your-ground law (which Oklahoma also has) is that you can protect YOUR property and YOUR person; not walk around offensively protecting an entire neighborhood with your weapon of choice.
That said, I can well imagine some of our ranchers riding around in their trucks with their rifles looking for "suspicious" characters. "Suspicious" meaning ANYone who doesn't normally 'come around these parts.' The rifle would be more for looks than not, unless someone was actually trespassing. More often than not, a call to the sheriff would be the first line of defense. We live in an area that is landlocked, meaning the road in front of our house is the only access and is only frequented by people who live on acreage behind us and those who have business out here. (gas truck, trash guy, UPS, etc.) If anyone new drives down our road, my husband walks out to the fence to find out why. We live in a semi-private area, so IMO, that's reasonable. Either they're lost, they're visiting one of our neighbors, they have business, or they don't belong on our road.
In town, though, I can't imagine following some kid around the block trying to figure out what he's up to. I'm still thinking that Zimmerman has some kind of paranoid disorder, based on the number of previous calls he had made to the police.

Based off of the 911 call.
If he zimboe had just simply doenwhat he was instructed, Trayvon Martin would more than likely be alive today and this thread would not exist.

Exactly and to continue the story that Zimmerman was stalking him without the full facts is ridiculous.
