What do you believe Paul meant in speaking of being absent from the body?

You never really stated this answer, but went to show how that in other passages you believe we are told we do not die to be immediately with the Lord. It seems like you skirted 2 Cor 5:8's meaning. What do you believe said in 2 Co 5:8, and why? Do you not believe we are ever absent from the body?
