Once again, I was really hoping to have a civil thread about our fairly unique shared hisory (given the % of the population we made up)...and the little nuances that connected us in spite of our differences.
on that note, I think i might have seen something along this line... but nobody but a pentecostal would understand (and kind of half laugh) when they heard someone in a deep voice start singing ooooohhhh oooohhhh ooohh followed by a high pitched nasal voice singing somebody touched me...repeat... then all together now:
it must have been the hand of the Lord!

The comment about praying that all former UPCers would get in a car wreck or something...
HeavenlyOne is former UPC...as well as alot of my other friends and it hit me wrong.
We've apologized via PM and all is well now.
I took ladyrev's post wrong and provided a typical hotheaded response. I've felt my whole life that I wasn't allowed to have an opinion and about 5-7 years ago, something snapped in my head and now everyone is paying for it... anytime there is a suggestion that we are not allowed to have opinions.
Brother, at the risk of sounding cynical, it's been this way for a while now.
Just check out any thread, the lines are clearly drawn. Even if the thread was started about something totally innocuous, it somehow very quickly degenerates into an "us vs. them" mentality. Pretty soon, what started as an innocent thread becomes a battlefield, and it's usually the "one steppers vs. the three steppers" these days.
It's unfortunate, it never used to be this way..........something has changed.
like I said. we eat our own.

My husband tells a story from the Millington TN church during Pastor Hazel Simpson's days...
He says there was a lady that used to suck the boogers out of her baby's nose with her mouth during service and then spit it into the kleenex stuffed in her bra.
She obviously didn't have one of those syringe thingys.
