Stating "Jacob tithed" means we should too? When we use that logic it opens the door to much speculation and comparing.

If there is much blessing in tithing why not go 15% and get a greater blessing?

Imo it is about giving from a humble and giving heart. I'm not going to tell people to tithe or not to tithe.

By the way, Jacob's tithe was conditional.

So is everyone else's giving. I can' give something I don't have and my family is my first priority on this earth outside of a personal relationship with God.

In Greece all churches ask for tithing,except the one trinitirian.
This church:
a)do not ask for tithes
b) pastors not get paid (they have to work "with their own hands")
And believe me this church:
a) is the biggest in Greece
b)have the most beautiful buildings
c) have more churches in Greece (and out of Greece) than all the evangelical,pentecostal churches together.
d)the most buildings are not rent but ownership
e)the church is open minimum four days per week for preaching etc (some of them everyday)

Conclution? although i attend a UPCI church i can see THEY ARE BLESSED because they have confident in God about money,nobody can say to them "you are all about money"
and many people they give in offerings more than a tithe! even houses ! and also if somebody is poor he do not have to give but the church gives them food!
