Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns
Nice try. The protocol to approach an offending brother is found in Matthew 18:15-17. Paul used this method when dealing with the perversion in the Corinthian church. It seemed to work well for him. One other point.
Quote:
15..Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. 16..But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. 17..And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.

Which poster personally spoke with TB in private? Thought so. Skip the part about going to the person in private and devour him on a public forum. Again show of hands of people who followed the protocol Jesus established in Matthew? Any confront TB with two or three witnesses? Did you take your offense to the congration? Probably not. They would look at you as if you are wierd. If you are offended by the Memphis Mess, at least pretend to be a christian following the directives Jesus established.
The main part of the scripture you should have highlighted was if the brother sinned against thee. Did TB personally do something against you? Clearly the scripture indicates there has to be a personal involvement to the offense. Maybe this was one of the ways Christ was trying to reduce gossip.

Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns
I threw out verse after verse in numerous posts which were ignored. Just pointed out the fallacies in AYR's opinion in spite of what the Bible says about gossip, it's okay because free speech is legal.
We felt the love when you called a preacher a dirty rotten scoundrel.

Sir, you stated in a previous post that I was hateful, but you are wrong...I am not hateful. You may not agree with my posts, but you do not know me from Adam's house cat. Anyone who knows me personally will tell you, I am NOT hateful.
If my posting on this Memphis Mess has offended your sense of spirituality, I sincerely apologize. I will keep my opinions to myself.
But you have also crossed a line, tv...the above post is way out of bounds.
Disagree with me...fine. Want to discuss the fine points of Scripture...I'm all for it. But posting what you did is despicable.

But that is where you are ignorant because you are broad brushing legal permissions. You decided that since all these other things are legal, I must be ok with all of them? Where is your moderation? It must be all or none?
Start another thread and give some scripture validating your position that this thread started upon gossip. You cannot refute that Jesus did not discuss Judas. You cannot refute that Peter did not discuss Judas. You cannot refute that the early church did not discuss people, places and things. You talk a lot about scripture, but post very little to support your position.
Why do you insist on continuing to derail this thread and not take your argument to another thread like the admins asked?

The GREATEST Show; the GREATEST Church in Memphis???? I was viewing TPC video service from 11.25.12, and this is the statement that the minister made as he was preparing to bring forth Pastor Brown; "We are the GREATEST Church in Memphis"; I do believe that this type of HYPE/ARROGANCE is what has been breaded into the thinking of its parrishioners, and this is what can/has alienated this church from seeking fellowship with other bro/sisters of like precious faith outside of their own Apostolic Organization. I do believe that this type of condescening attitude is what also makes for a big fall among many within this type of church structure: that statement/belief concept IRKS my spirit!!!

I pastor in Memphis. I like to think that there are quite a few great churches in Memphis.
