I would like some details on that.
I find it interesting that someone complimented you all on your girls having to wear dresses. we seem to only get negative feedback in our community such as "legalism" and controlling things of that nature

Yes, they know we are Oneness Pentecostal, if that is what you mean.
The other night I spoke at a ladies meeting (Praise Keepers) and found it interesting that this AOG church was singing "He's God in the Father, God in the Son, God in the Holy Ghost, and all these 3 are one!" Funny how we use the same scriptures and the same songs!
I've had several ladies say that they wept and cried when they saw our show because of our holiness standards. There is a call to holiness even in this generation and the hunger for such is evident.

Hi Kristan
I find this whole thing ver intriguing. It's hard for me comprehend the AOG having you. the reason why is, the AGs where I live hate us and as far as know we have not shown any anomosity towards them in many many years. the biggest hurdle seems to be the Trinity and the fact we don't sacribe to it which makes us "heritics" in their eyes.
since you say they was so taken by your standards of dress, have they asked you a lot of Questions as to WHY you adhere to the dress code?
they have never brought up the doctrine ?

I do not profess to be a theologian, but I have felt the urgency that God is wanting to pour His Spirit upon our generation. Whatever I can do in the kingdom to promote this, I am a willing servant.
I believe God placed us in the WifeSwap episode, fullfilling a word He spoke to me at the Azusa Street Celebration, to spread this message about the baptisim of the Spirit.
We're not abrasive with doctrinal differences, in order to tell others about this beautiful gift we have received.
After all, the Bible says the Holy Ghost will lead and guide into all truth (but they must receive it first!).

The fact that we had never even seen the show until after ABC approved us is exactly why we were chosen - we are conservative.
Thanks for the clarification, Kristin

Yes we do watch some.
We also realize there are valuable programs on TV, but do not see the value of having cable or satellite to get them when our family would disprove of most things on TV. This is a personal thing at the Hoover house, not something seen as test of membership at the church we attend. Certainly if one has television the remote should not be accessible to children.

This better make it into someone's mass mailing about television advertising. I love the story. It's only the beginning..

And there we have it... in a nutshell.
One time I came home from work and we had a couple over to visit. They had been over for a while and the wife of the couple (who went to church with us) had decided that they were going to show him the oneness.
They had argued with him for hours by the time I got home. They informed me that he was hard headed and that I needed to set him straight.
First... I told them... don't ever think you got this from personal knowledge... it was revelation from God...
Then I sat down with him. He started showing me where I was in error. I interjected a few things here and there but let him talk. He kept going from scripture to scripture and I would say things as I felt led.
After an hour or so he read a scripture.... looked a little confused... flipped a few pages.... read to himself... looking a little confused....then he got it.
He was baptized in Jesus name the next day.
They less often hate our doctrine... and more often hate how they perceive we will be toward them and their doctrine.
I find that those outside the oneness belief are receptive as long as they are not met with arrogance but are spoken to as if they actually have some capacity to think for themselves.
People know when you join a conversation and have no intention of ever listening to a word they say.
They know when every word they say is simply being sized up for another "straightening out" session.
And... they know when you are listening to them as intelligent people and when you hear their words as if you may actually learn something from them.
It can be boiled down to this...
They don't care what you know until they know that you care.
