I see your point, but I would hope there are many, many more control mechanisms in place in this country that preserve liberty and justice for all, regardless of who is elected.

I see what you mean. From my perspective I'm just trying to find a balance and a just society for all people in this country. The UPCI has charged to the extreme right leaving me in the middle arguing for justice while they demand obedience to their extreme ideology. There are times when I want to leave church and never return because I know I'm not welcome unless I'm a Republican. And I've warned every one of my Democratic friends never to visit an Apostolic church because they will be hated. That's just the plain God's honest truth. Because in America...the vast majority of our churches are nothing but right wing political action committees...and I'm not afraid to admit it or warn people about it. I've even had my car vandalized by church members in the church parking lot last election because I opposed George Bush.
It's all a joke...and most are self deceived into thinking they're being Christians. No... sadly many are just Bible toting pawns of the Republican party.

And your arrogance puts you in rank with the Dem's and their elitest attitude. You would vote for the devil, or anyone else, as long as they agreed with you.
I have not gotten into much of the politics stuff on here, or elsewhere. This is because our pastor has been teaching a lot on the fact that it does not matter who gets it, God is in control. My God owns not just the cattle on a thousand hills but he owns they hills too. The world can be going to hell in a hand basket and God will meet my needs according to His riches in glory.
But he still teaches that you better pray real hard about it before you cast your vote. THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS MAY STILL BE EVIL BUT WHY PUT THE WORST OF THE TWO IN JUST BECAUSE YOU LIKE THE WAY HE TALKS, OR HE MAKES YOU FEEL ALL WARM AND FUZZY INSIDE? A shot of whiskey can do that for you.

Do you realize that you're comparing two American politicians to Hitler? Are they corrupt and money grubbing? Yep. Do they pander to their constituents? Yep. But like Hitler. Get real. It's this kind of thing that leads me to believe that so many of us are brainwashed. Hitler's evil was REAL. You minimize what he did when comparing average corrupt politicians to him. You're essentially dishonoring every Jew who died in the Holocaust. As much as I don't like McCain....he's no Hitler and I don't believe he ever would be or could be. Same with Obama.
You need to come back down into reality.

It's funny. I've seen independent people with honest to God personal opinions get brow beaten and bullied into become Conservobots. I refuse to bow to their heavy handed intimidation tactics. They accuse me of not being a real Christian....they claim I can't be saved...blah, blah, blah. I'm just as saved as they are...I just disagree politically. But they prove my point...the American church is nothing but a political action committee. It's not a real church. At least that's the popular trend right now.
I think it would do us a world of God if we preached against political involvement and taught complete abandon to the Kingdom of God and evangelism. But most idolize Rush Limbaugh to such a degree that they want their own following and bully pulpit. There was a time when preachers used the "n" word all the time and preached against integration. Today they preach against liberals and those who don't politically agree with them. The word "liberal" is the new "n" word. It's no longer proper to say hateful things about people of color....but you'll get a crowd cheering if you bash a brother who you label a...."liberal".

Here's the deal bro....you don't have to vote for an evil at all. You can find a place to pray on election day and probably do far more for your country than blindly pulling for one party over the other every cycle.
Let me ask you the question...
Who would you vote for Nero or Caligula?

That's not true. My father was a licensed UPC pastor/ preacher for 53 years. he was a Democrat til the day he died. my mom and brother and i are all democrat. A lot of church members are Democrat.I say you are not in the middle but to the far left. I don't mind some of your ideologies about $$$ but when it comes to moral biblical standards, that's where we part company. We didn't leave the party, the party is leaving us. they have allowed all these wackos to take over what use to be a good party.
It's what the Democrats are allowing to destroy the traditional family
that the UPC is more against then anything

Do you even know much about Caligula? if I had to compare and ask for a ruler out of those two it would have to be Caligula. He went insane but at least he did not destroy Rome like Nero did.
I can also pray and let God lead me in WHO HE WANTS me to vote for. Not voting is like putting my head in the sand and ignoring it all.
