It's wrong. It's ridiculous. The UPC needs to stand against it, or else be led into a damnable lie.
Perhaps it would be better that the UPC not be on television. All it would take is one of these women's conferences to be broadcast showing this kind of foolish garbage and it would be on the news, in the papers and elsewhere.
If I ever see something like this in a service or church I'm attending, it will be the last time I'll be there.
Good point. "Magic Hair" would not be a good advertisement for UPC. Is this just happening in the UPC? i have asked a few other folks some ALJC and independents and they had never heard of it happening, except in the UPC churches.
I have a SIL, a pastor's wife, who told me three years ago about going to a retreat and hearing a testimony about this. It seemed weird to me, but thought it was no doubt an isolated thing...was I ever wrong.
you were sure wrong. this is spreading like wild fire.
Oh my Lord, you are back!!!! You better go check that other place. They are trying to whip you around. lol! I'm not commenting as it wouldn't do any good.
When people respond with nothing better than assumption and sarcasm, I take that as a sign that they can't argue my points with anything other than to belittle others in their responses.
That's all I saw being posted. Doesn't appear that they want to discuss the issue honestly......but there is one who decided to come over to the 'other side', acting as if she's interested in honest discussion......LOL!

I don't see how its any different than say...people at the altar dancing .. or raising hands up .. or people running the aisles; other accepted forms or acts of worship in any Pentecostal or Jesusname church.
People on the 'outside' looking in also consider these things above.. foolishness..or even heresy ( catholics or baptists aren't known for doing any of those things ) ..many other denominations(?) even think that the very practice of JESUSname baptism is downright dangerous, false doctrine, etc.
BUT..we KNOW better right?
I don't see what all the fuss is about anyway., and not just because I'm NOT UPC..
I mean if all the people who ARE or have always been proudly UPC now suddenly are taken aback at something like this -what can this possibly mean?
WHom can be in error?
Just curious.
What? No sarcasm in this post?
Be careful. Someone might mistake you for a person who is seeking honest discussion from a place you claim is unfriendly.

Thank you, SM,
I found that I was curious as to your response.
Not a good thing to teach to a bunch of ladies. Their faith would naturally fall on the length of their hair and, IMO, cause them to be more judgmental to others.
I still don't understand I Cor 11. To have "long" hair, which is "tresses of hair" doesn't, as HO said, cover some races of people. "Uncut" can't satisfy that either because even if you didn't trim or cut it, you still wouldn't get "tresses" of hair.
Anyway, this portion isn't even talking about hair:
Perhaps I need to clarify a bit what I meant when I mentioned those acts as I did in earlier post..and you and sism have replied with sincerity., as I have also asked.
THAT..when people do such things, even speaking in tongues or going into a "blessing" that often times looses even MORE of same conduct from others..I mean pretty soon the whole church is speaking in tongues, dancing, running the aisles..long hair flyin everywhere - and so on.
NO ONE seems to question that - or sometimes even MUSIC, certain songs just auto seem to loosen or lead to a sudden spurt in the SPIRIT fallling upon many people all at once!
Okay..so I've seen this many a time and I love it! ALSO I can fall into a personal blessing without all that..the spirit in ME often overflows easily.
But thats offtrack.
Having seen the spirit really fall heavily upon a whole congregation..who's to say what is or isn't "of GOD" or considered not bible..IF the fruit is there?
I hope I'm beginning to make some sense, lol (what I'm trying to get at)

I know I will get crucified but the UPC is always chasing some fad. Dispatching angels now that is over, pleading the blood, some converted CIA man, convert from Hell's angels, the Siberean Seven, the Circus folks, the Jewish revival, now this goofy magic hair stuff.
Just sound solid Bible preaching does not seem to ever be the 'in' thing.

This sort of began with RRs book...then it seemed in order to validate this view suddenly testimonies of women attributing miracles to their hair started to prop up

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
Every sinner must repent of their sins.
That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

do you think you should have used a bigger font and bolded red letters? i'm not familiar with all of these. could you expound on them??? let's pray for these folks. someone needs to intercede and intercede quick.

And the 'for this cause' portion isn't referring to hair either, but the relationship of a man and woman. Some quote that portion of 'for this cause'
as meaning 'why we have long hair'. That has nothing to do with that portion of scripture.
And as I said before, this is a white man's (or woman's) doctrine.
