No way can anyone compare the UPCI split with a church split. It is not that big of a deal.

Yes, I understand they're not the same thing...but I think you're missing the point here.
Why should someone on an apostolic forum feel that a split in an Apostolic denomination is "exciting"? Thats my whole point.
Something about that just seems a bit unseemly to me.
You may feel otherwise, but thats' just my take on it.

A gross oversimplification.
First of all, most splits are not simply because a church
doesn't feel like "carrying a denomination on their back". It is usually caused by differences on certain doctrines or issues that makes them decide to leave. Sometimes the whole church is in agreement with the departure, and sometimes they are not. Disagreement over the departure may well cause division within the local church itself, and sometimes leads to a split within that local assembly. I have seen that happen, and I saw how tough it was for many of those involved.
This just goes back to my whole issue about anyone being excited about UPC splits (or any other denomination for that matter). Even the pastors who have to make the decision, usually view it with gravity and soberness, knowing that it can be a tough moment for some of their members to deal with, especially if theres a significant number of the members who disagree with it. I'd say
most of these pastors don't view the decision with excitement, even if they're convinced its the right thing to do.

to you... so its easy for you to dismiss it. But I've seen first-hand how denominational splits can be very tough for individuals in the churches directly affected by it.
In many cases, it is a big deal to them.
