He is actually a renowned Nashville music composer & arranger. They were goofing off after making a recording of the song. Someone told him he couldn't reach that highest note.
I doubt he uses this as a demo of his work.
I suggest he stick with composing & arranging and leave the actual singing to someone else.
The singer is Steve Mauldin.
