Re: Let's Get Back to the Cross

A single portion is one man's part. When we get saved we understand one man, Jesus, died for our sins, was buried, resurrected and sat on the right hand throne. But the Bible teaches a double portion concept of this. WE DIED WITH HIM. We are also risen WITH HIM to the throne! A single portion revelation does not give us confidence we need to conquer kings. We will only know we are seated with Christ on his throne when we understand the double portion concept.

Joshua's story shows the need for this double portion revelation to grip us before we can hang kings!

He needed more light than a single day's worth in order to hang those five kings. This is just as true for us in saying we need more than a single portion revelation if we are going to have the faith to hang kings!

There's only one.

Psalm 110:1. There is not a right side to God for there to be a throne. God is omnipresent. The right hand IS the throne. It is the place of power.

Re: Let's Get Back to the Cross

the cross undeniably great ,had a greater purpose,it was our entrance back to the fellowship with God that was lost in the garden.
Hebrews 4:1
Let us(church)fear lest a promise left us of entering into his rest, any of us should seem to come up short of it.

Hebrews 4:11 Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest

Right. the cross puts us in the place of KINGDOM POWER Adam had before the fall. It is why we are sated with Christ on the throne. It is why we are veritably in the Garden Kingdom now.

So, when we use the power we have that God gave us due to the cross, we can say we HANG enemies, which is where I was going next with this issue. This is what Joshua did with the five kings once he got this double portion of light, representing the dual concept of our co-seating with Christ on the throne.

Re: Let's Get Back to the Cross

Since it is the cross that placed us free of sins, where Adam stood before his fall, we are where Adam was. And since Adam had dominion in that state, we likewise have dominion. And it is all because of the cross. This is why I believe we read of hangings in the Old Testament. these stories represent the victories we can have through the cross. Esther saw Haman hanged. Joshua hanged the five kings of the Amorites. Even Saul was hanged.

Jesus is said to have hanged on a tree in the book of Acts and Gal 3. Although people were hanged after they were killed in the Old Testament, Christ's hanging while alive unto death was considered to be the same thing in the eyes of the Jews since they removed Him from the cross before nightfall, as they did with Old Testament hangings.

A law stated the dead body of one hanged had to be removed before nightfall.
Deu 21:22-23 KJV And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree: (23) His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
It is interesting to consider this when we think of light as indicative of truth and revelation. While the light still shines, the people must be hanged and removed from the tree and buried out of sight. When we have truth revealed to us, it always causes a revelation to explode in our hearts and it creates faith. Faith comes from such a Word of God revealed to us. So we can see that while the light is still present, and while we have faith, we must act and overcome our enemies. Without the revelation of truth to our hearts, we have no faith. So we can see how the daylight must be present in order to hang and bury the enemies.

Joshua knew he needed more light than normal to hang and bur his enemies. Similarly, we need more than a single portion understanding of Christ's death. We need the double portion that teaches we died and are therefore seated together with Him. The seating on the throne is the revelation that we have Kingdom Power with Him.

Re: Let's Get Back to the Cross

I was thinking about Psalm 110:1, the most oft quoted OT verse in the NT. The son of God is told to sit down while the Father makes His enemies His footstool.

And Heb 10 refers to Psalm 110:1 and speaks from the perspective of the Son of God. He sits expecting until his enemies are made his footstool. In other words, the Son has faith that what was promised to him about his enemies being brought down will come to pass.

The way Psalm 110:1 is written causes us to understand seating was REQUIRED for the enemies to be brought down beneath His feet. Heb 10 also adds that sitting down indicates FINISHED WORK. So, having faith that there is no more work to be done other than what has already been done, is also in view. This means sitting down shows confidence there is nothing else to do in order to bring the enemies down. It is just a matter of time. That work that was finished was the work of the cross. The cross was all it took to bring every enemy down. As Son of God, Jesus need do no further work whatsoever to see every enemy brought down. It is a finished work, and to indicate He knows that, He sat DOWN.

We are seated together with Him at that right hand throne. Ep 2:5-6. This means the promise can apply to us as well. THE WORK IS DONE. The cross provided all the work necessary FOR OUR ENEMIES to be made our footstool as well. And to show we need not do anything in the flesh further than what has been done by Jesus on the cross, WE REMAIN SEATED SO GOD CAN BRING DOWN OUR ENEMIES.

When we worry, after having prayed in faith for our enemies to indeed come down, we are not seated, spiritually speaking. We are scurrying around. When we REST in the finished work and have FAITH that IN TIME our enemies will be brought down, we are spiritually seated on the throne. We need to learn TO REMAIN SEATED so God can bring our enemies down,. HE NEEDS OUR FAITH, or He will not do it.

Re: Let's Get Back to the Cross

Before HE ascended and sat down, Jesus gave simple instructions to his apostles as
to what they should do. They headed out for Jerusalem. In a few days what was
promised was given. Until we have gone on "to Jerusalem", we are not finished with
what we should do. A kingdom was given to them just as a kingdom was given to the
Son, by the Father. No doubt those Apostles are seated on 12 thrones. Matt.19:28
Yes, Jesus finished the work the Father sent him to do. The Apostles did what they
were sent to do. Now it's in our hands as to what we had better do. We are His wit-
nesses into the uttermost parts of the earth. Jesus and the Apostles are seated, but
we have not finished our work, until we endure until the end.

Must Jesus bear the Cross alone, and all the world go free! No, there's a cross for everyone,
and there's a cross for me!! We are to take up our cross daily and follow HIM! Provision was
made at Calvary, and Power given at Pentecost to do what Jesus and the Apostles did. We
have our part to do also. The Father glorified the Son and the Word speaks of when HE comes
to be glorified IN his saints. That's us! We share and become one with the Father and the Son.

We can drink from one of two cups! The cup of Blessing or the cup of cursing. Two cups, one
choice!
