His "working on me to make me what I ought to be" isn't to save me, it's to sanctify me. Those two can't be confused.

If you are not able to be presented blameless, then what is your argument? Salvation includes sanctification. If it didn't, after I get saved I could sin as much as I wanted and not worry about the consequences. Sanctification is to make us more Like Jesus, to help us overcome our sin.
He that overcometh, Jesus said, Will I grant to sit with me.
21To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."
This is GOD talking to saved people according to your logic.
The way I view my faith is the Bible revelation Jesus has given me. If you disagree with it, thats ok. If you think its flimsy, talk to him about it. My faith is secure in him. He will finish what he has started in me.
There is no biblical definition of, now I'm saved! Its just not there. You haven't made it there until you hear him say well done. And you don't hear him say that because of your workings, mind you, but the work of grace in you.
